LAKELAND has cut the cost of its popular heated airers – with prices starting from just £64.99 and running costs as low as 6p an hour.
The homeware chain, based in Cumbria, is offering shoppers up to 20 per cent off its Dry:Soon range of plug-in dryers from today.
The products are designed to make laundry days quicker and cheaper, without relying on the unpredictable British weather.
Drying Pod-30p an hour
Starting with the most affordable option, the Drying Pod has dropped from £79.99 to just £64.99.
This clever dryer uses circulating hot air to dry laundry quickly and efficiently, holding up to 12 items of clothing on hangers at once.
Not only does it cut drying time, but it also reduces creases, meaning less time at the ironing board.
When not in use, the Drying Pod folds flat for easy storage, and because heated clothes airers cost just pennies to run, it’s a cost-effective and space-saving solution for any home.
Foldable Heated Airer
The second cheapest option, the Foldable Heated Airer is now just £79.99, that’s a £20 saving.
Portable and easy to store, it can dry up to five items of clothing at once, with a built-in fan to circulate hot air and a fragrance dispenser to eliminate any damp smell.
It easily folds down from 150cm to just 28cm for compact storage, and of course comes with Lakeland’s 3-year guarantee.”
Lakeland says its heated airers are “gentle enough to safely dry delicates and efficient enough to dry even the thickest of towels”, making them a more eco-friendly option than tumble dryers.
Mini 3-Tier Heated Airer – 6p an hour
For those who need something more compact, the Mini 3-Tier Heated Airer is now £114.99, down from £129.99.
Despite its smaller frame, it still offers a large 15kg capacity, with foldable heated shelves that dry clothes faster and fold down to just 8cm deep for easy storage.
Designed to work whatever the weather, it’s also highly economical, costing as little as 6p per hour to run.
3-Tier Heated Clothes Airer – 9p an hour
Originally priced at £159.99, the standard 3-Tier Heated Clothes Airer is now £139.99.
Made from lightweight aluminium, it provides around 21m of drying space – enough to hold two wash loads (up to 15kg) – and folds down to just 8cm deep, making it perfect for smaller homes.
Designed to dry clothes quickly indoors, it’s also energy-efficient, costing only 9p per hour to run.
Deluxe 3-Tier Heated Clothes Airer – 9p an hour
The Dry:Soon Deluxe 3-Tier Heated Clothes Airer, usually £199.99, is now £169.99, saving customers £30.
Like the Standard model, it can hold around two wash loads (15kg across 21m of drying space) and costs just 9p per hour to run.
The Deluxe design makes drying indoors even easier, with improved access, a built-in timer, and other smart extras for added convenie*
With energy bills still a concern for many households, the low running cost is a major selling point – with some models costing just pennies per hour.
All airers come with Lakeland’s three-year guarantee, giving shoppers added peace of mind.
But the retailer warns the savings are only available for a limited period.
This follows other popular money-saving laundry solutions, such as heated airers costing under 9p an hour to run, budget-friendly £9.99 over-bath airers that help cut energy bills, and even little-known tumble dryer settings that can shave pounds off annual costs.
Shoppers have also praised Aldi’s bargain heated airer, calling it a “lifesaver” during colder months.
How to dry wet washing inside, in winter
Drying rack or airer
Load up your airer with wet washing and place near a heat source – like a radiator or direct sunlight – to help distribute air around your clothes.
Dehumidifier
Plug in a dehumidifier in a room with clothes hanging to dry quickly and prevent dampness and mould. Many now have a laundry setting.
Tumble dryer
A tumble dryer can heat moisture out of wet washing, saving time and can be used in any weather.
Heated airer
Many brands and shops now sell heated airers for as little as £30. The racks heat through electricity and can speed up drying time.
Open a window
Choose a spare room or unused room for keeping your washing and crack open a window, but close the door behind you.
Using curtain poles
Hang wet washing on radiators then hook them onto curtain poles with radiators below. The heat will rise and dry the items. Alternatively, if you have a shower curtain pole, hang your clothes in the bathroom with a window open.
Collapsible rotary lines and compact drying racks have proved just as popular, showing the demand for low-cost, space-saving options to tackle laundry all year round.
Different airers have been tested and reviewed, with models praised for their sturdiness, drying capacity and ease of storage.
Heated versions, in particular, often stand out for being gentle on clothes and a long-term saver thanks to their low running costs.
