A LABOUR councillor hired an illegal immigrant as a nanny and paid her cash in hand, a court heard.
Hina Mir, 45, gave Indian Himanshi Gongley £1,200 a month to care for her two children.
But Ms Gongley had no legal right to be here as her student visa had expired.
Mir — on West London’s Hounslow council — was rumbled when the nanny flagged down a police car last year and claimed she was abused.
Mir, Hounslow deputy mayor in 2020, was fined £40,000 in January for an immigration law breach.
The qualified solicitor has now lost an appeal against the fine at City of London county court.

The judge said her evidence had “inconsistencies”.
Judge Stephen Hellman said: “The inconsistencies in the appellant’s evidence mean I cannot place much reliance on her evidence as I normally would.”
Last week, Mir was allegedly caught illegally parking her BMW in a disabled bay.
The car was parked in the bay while a council meeting was taking place last week.
