KYREN WILSON could miss out on the chance to defend his Players Championship crown this year due to a run of bad results in ranking competitions.
The 34-year-old has won two competitions this season, although neither contributed to his ranking.

He took home the Shanghai Masters crown back in August before winning his first Masters title earlier this month.
But in ranking tournaments, Wilson has failed to make a semi-final.
His best results this term so far have been quarter-final finishes at the Saudi Arabia Masters and the Northern Ireland Open.
The Warrior has dropped out of the top 16 on the one-year/seasonal ranking list as a result and currently sits 22nd.
If he cannot improve things, he will miss out on a place at the Players Championship next month.
Only the top 16 from the seasonal standings qualify for the event.
Despite winning the competition with a 10-9 victory over Judd Trump last year, the Kettering-born cueist will not be offered a place if he remains outside of that group.
Wilson beat Robert Milkins in the first round of the German Masters on Monday.

He next faces Anthony McGill on Tuesday evening.
After his Masters title win, Wilson said: “Whoever comes to watch me, I never make it easy for myself. I always seem to do it the hard way. It frustrates the life out of me.
“But I will always give it my all and fight to the end. Thankfully I have my hands on silverware.
“This is amazing. Father Christmas was very kind to me. I will be honest. It was a complete freak accident what happened to my cue.
“I was in a bad way. I was suffering. It’s so important to have a cue you can trust.
“I thought I was gone at the UKs and wondered if I would ever be back in the winners’ enclosure.
“I came here with a new lease of life. I have a supportive family. I promised my mum she would have that crystal on her dining room table – it’s coming home, mum.”
