Kobbie Mainoo one of two stars handed England recall as squad news is leaked ahead of announcement

THOMAS TUCHEL is expected to include Kobbie Mainoo in his England squad for the upcoming international break.

Newcastle’s Lewis Hall has also secured a spot on the plane, according to the reports from the Athletic.

SunSport understands there is also a strong chance that Everton’s James Garner will be handed a spot following his impressive spell of form under David Moyes.

All three stars have enjoyed strong performances thus far in 2026, and are now set to line up against Uruguay and Japan in friendlies later this month.

Mainoo has struggled to stake his claim to a spot in the England setup since being iced out of the Manchester United first-team by Ruben Amorim.

But a change of manager in January brought a change of fortune for the 20-year-old, with Michael Carrick handing him a key role in his midfield.

Mainoo has played the full 90 minutes in all but one of Carrick’s games in the dugout so far.

The run has coincided with an uptick in form for the Red Devils, who has lost only once since the coach’s arrival.

Hall has experienced a revival of his own in recent months as he finally makes his return from, a lengthy injury layoff.

The former Chelsea left-back missed almost 30 matches in 2025 as a result of nearly back-to-back injuries to his ankle and hamstring.

But he has emerged as a bright spot in a hot and cold Newcastle team since his return.

There is also believed to be room on the plane for another Carrington graduate in Garner, 25.

The Everton man has contributed to the outfit punching above their weight in the Premier League, currently sitting eighth and still in the hunt for European football.
