A TEENAGER has been found guilty of manslaughter after a 19-year-old was stabbed in a Power League car park.
Abbas Hussain, also 19, knifed teen Mohammed Isa Afzal in a fatal attack last summer.
Mohammed was stabbed eight times by Hussain using a “hunting style Call of Duty-type knife” in Bury, Greater Manchester in August 2025.
Hussain was on trial alongside Mohammed Rayhan, 19, and Biryan Ak, 20.
Rayhan was accused of assaulting Mohammed with a baseball bat, but was found not guilty.
Ak was accused of bringing the victim down with his arm, knocking Mohammed to the floor during the attack, but was also found not guilty.
In the trial at Manchester Crown Court, it was heard Mohammed, in a Jaguar, pursued Hussain and the two others who were in a Vauxhall Corsa.
The court heard Mohammed had an “issue” with one of the other men, and “wanted to smash up the guy’s car”.
The three defendants jumped out of the Corsa in the Power League car park, attacking Mohammed, who died of his injuries.
Hussain told the court he has been carrying the zombie blade for protection.
He said: “I believed my life was in danger and I needed to protect myself. I intended to use it to protect and defend myself if I got attacked.
“I was hoping if I took it out, hopefully the presence of it would scare them off. It was a hunting style Call of Duty-type knife.”
A post-mortem examination found Mohammed had eight “sharp force injuries” to his torso and upper limbs.
Hussain, of Windsor Crescent, Prestwich, was found not guilty of murder, but guilty of manslaughter.
Mr Rayhan, of Chauncy Road, Failsworth; and Mr Ak, of Norman Grove, Longsight, were found not guilty of murder.
Mr Rayhan was also found not guilty of possessing an offensive weapon.
After his death, Mohammed’s family released a moving tribute to their beloved son.
“Our heart is filled with grief and pain, the reality that we will no longer see him or hear his voice on the phone,” they said.
“We grieve and pray for the day we will all be reunited as a family together in Jannah.
“The support from family and friends has been truly humbling, with everyone sharing the pain and loss of Mohammed Isa.
“He was so much to so many people in his short time in this temporary world.”
