KEMI Badenoch threw down the gauntlet to Labour by proposing VAT is scrapped from energy bills to help save households £200 a year.
The Tory leader also demanded the removal of “crazy green taxes”.

It would ease the financial pressure on families already feeling the pinch from the Middle East energy shock.
She targeted PM Sir Keir Starmer, saying he was too weak to stand up to Energy Secretary Ed Miliband’s Net Zero ideology — insisting that North Sea drilling will help ease the cost of living.
Her measures come as Brits are braced for “Awful April” where council tax, water bills, car tax and the TV licence are all due to go up.
The party chief said: “I know families and business owners across Britain will be very worried about how the global energy crisis will impact them.

“That’s why I find it appalling that Labour’s solution is to tax working people to fund a bailout for those on benefits.
“By drilling in the North Sea and scrapping Ed Miliband’s crazy green taxes, our cheap power plan would reduce bills by £200 for everyone.”
New Tory plans would see VAT taken off domestic energy bills to save households around £94 per year for the next three years.
A carbon tax on electricity generation would be removed, saving £75.
A further £22 would be found by scrapping wind levies entirely.
The proposals would also be paid for in part by increased oil and gas production in the North Sea.
Meanwhile, households must be given better incentives to approve fracking projects near their homes, Ms Badenoch says.
She insists compensation should be offered for disruptive shale gas drilling.
