Before he left, he opened up on how he became a comic to his co-stars, rapper Aitch, actress Ruby Wax and former model Kelly, 46, just some down time in camp.

But fans were left distracted from the story, which saw Eddie detail his upbringing and first ever attempt at comedy, by Kelly’s laugh.

Eddie opened up on his father, who is from Congo: ‘The plan with my dad, his thing was be as smart as you can, go to university. He was looking for a better life.

‘But it was always that idea of be a doctor, lawyer, accountant… engineer. With Africans its like, “make up proud” and so on.

‘Even growing up I used to do the paper round, but my dad was too proud to call it a paper round, he called me, he said: “My son is a news reporter”.

‘My big break happened when a guy say me hosting and he said, “Oh do you know what? You’re really funny you should try come to my comedy club”.

‘I said, “I don’t do stand up”, he said to just try, and I came there and I was just talking nonsense about my life and my family, and people loved it.

‘I remember I did one show and a guy comes up to me and says: “There’s an award ceremony coming up, it’s the Black Entertainment Comedy Awards, you’re going to be up for best newcomer”.

‘A couple of months later, I’m in Hammersmith around people that I really loved. I saw Lenny Henry there, Richard Blackwood, all these names, and I won best newcomer.

‘That was the first time my dad had ever seen me perform, but he looked bored, like he was going to fall asleep. He just kept looking around.

‘When the show was done, I came up to him and I said, “Why didn’t you laugh?” and he said: “You are fantastic. You are talented. But I was too busy counting the money.”

‘He looks around and says, “400 people in here, times £20… son, this is a great career! You have my blessing”.’

During the story, Kelly was seen letting out giggles – but fans were less than impressed and hit out that it came across ‘fake and patronising’.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one wrote: ‘Kelly! That was such a fake laugh,’ as a second said: ‘Kelly’s laugh couldn’t be any more fake and patronising.’

A third person wrote: “Kelly’s laugh couldn’t be any more fake,’ as a fourth penned: ‘Her sarcastic laughing has no place there when Eddie is telling an emotional story.’

It comes after Kelly was blasted by fellow Jungle campmate Jack Osbourne’s sister, branding her a ‘bully’ and ‘performative’.

The 41‑year‑old took aim at Kelly in a fiery Instagram Story, accusing the TV star of being ‘overly dramatic’ following her gagging reaction while gutting a fish during Wednesday night’s episode.

Jack, 40, Kelly’s younger brother, had stepped in to help his campmate as she struggled to prepare dinner, politely asking: ‘Would you like me to cut up the fish?’

Although Kelly accepted his offer, she later claimed to camera that Jack had ‘elbowed’ her aside, saying: ‘I saw Jack’s eyes light up, it was like Christmas to Jack, and he came running over and elbowed me out of the way to get to this fish like a caveman, and I was like, no, I’m going to do it.’

Kelly then insisted on chopping the fish herself but repeatedly gagged and retched at the smell, prompting Osbourne to slam her behaviour as ‘performative’.

Osbourne has now leapt to her brother’s defence, admitting the exchange triggered her ‘protective’ instincts and even made her feel like ‘attacking’ the Heart Radio presenter for her tone.

Speaking on Instagram, she said: ‘Kelly Brook… I don’t think I like you. Elbowing out of the way to get to the fish… you’re so performative, with all the gagging and the over‑dramatics. You bring out my big‑sister vibes where I want to attack you because I feel like you’re a bit of a bully.’

After comedian Eddie Kadi won six stars during Wednesday’s trial, the camp were awarded a meal of eel.

Jack immediately asked who was on cooking duty, before Kelly revealed she and Martin Kemp were in charge for the evening.

Speaking to her co-stars, she admitted: ‘I can’t guarantee it will be delicious but it will be cooked and it will be fine.’ To camera, she added: ‘I do love to cook, but when I sat down and looked at that eel head I realised the whole thing needed skinning, it had fins, it had teeth, eyes.’

Jack, who has taken the lead in camp, particularly with cooking, offered to help Kelly given her reaction to the fish.

The pair then squabbled over who would fillet and prepare the eel, with Kelly eventually taking charge, gagging and squirming at the smell. At one point, as she walked away from the cooking area, Jack advised her to ‘breathe through her nose’.

Despite the drama, Jack later insisted the eel was the best protein the camp had eaten since arriving in the Australian jungle.

The disagreement over the eel led Osbourne to unleash her fury on Kelly, accusing the former glamour model of reacting badly to her brother’s offer of help and describing her as a ‘bully’.

Elsewhere, Eddie became the second celebrity to be voted out of the Jungle on Sunday, finding himself in the bottom two alongside model Vogue Williams, before hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly announced it was he who had received the fewest votes and would be leaving camp.

Fans were gutted by the decision, claiming Eddie was one of the most ‘underrated’ campmates and Vogue or Kelly Brook should have received the boot instead.

Eddie, who was second to leave after Lioness Alex Scott, said his farewells before sitting down for his exit interview where he reflected on his jungle experience, telling the hosts how it had ‘changed his life’.

He said: ‘I feel like I’ve been in there a year, it’s literally changed my life. Coming from Congo, where we have a massive rainforest, I feel like I’ve had a taste of what my grandparents experienced, and I realise now why they were so humble.

‘They were joyful regardless of any situation. Even when you’ve got no food, it goes to show that we are enough as human people.’

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues Monday on ITV1 and ITVX at 9pm.
