Kellogg’s has changed the recipe of a classic breakfast cereal and customers are furious

KELLOGG’S has changed the recipe of one of its classic breakfast cereals, leaving customers furious and branding it “tasteless”.

The cereal maker has switched up its All-Bran recipe in an effort to reduce food waste, it told The Sun.

It said the healthy favourite, which has been on UK supermarket shelves for over 100 years, now has “crunchier” shreds that “hold their shape better”, so less of the product ends up in the bin.

Kellanova, the company that owns Kellogg’s, also said it has reduced the energy needed in its factories to make the popular breakfast cereal.

However, the new recipe has not been popular with all fans, with some saying they’ll be abandoning the cereal after buying it for decades.

One customer posted to X: “What has happened to All Bran @KelloggsUKI?

“The ‘new recipe’ is awful flavour and the texture is hard and unsoftening and like tasteless twigs.

“I’ve bought for years since my Mum used to make a great bran loaf in the ’70’s but won’t be rebuying this.”

Another wrote on the platform: “Kellogg’s have changed their All Bran recipe. It’s like the non-branded stuff now – cheap and no taste.

“They’ve sacrificed taste for profit. Definitely not worth the extra cost to buy anymore.”

Another fan said the new recipe had an “unpleasant aftertaste” and was “less comfortable to eat”.

Meanwhile, several Tesco customers have recently slammed the change in reviews on the supermarket website, describing the cereal as “absolutely disgusting”.

Kellogg’s discontinues breakfast cereal

“I hadn’t eaten All Bran for years and bought this recently only to find it was absolutely disgusting,” one customer wrote.

“I only ate a couple of spoonfuls before giving up,” they added.

Another shopper described the new All-Bran shreds as “tasteless, grey-coloured strips of recycled cardboard that seem coated in a thin film of plastic.”

Kellogg’s All-Bran has been on supermarket shelves in the UK since 1922, and contains wheat bran shreds fortified with vitamins and iron.

A spokesperson for Kellanova, the company which owns Kellogg’s, said: “At Kelloggs, we have over 100 years’ experience making breakfast cereal that people love and we are always looking at ways to get better.

“We know how much our loyal customers enjoy All-Bran, so when we set about updating to our new recipe we tested it extensively with people to make sure they loved the taste.

“Our new All-Bran shreds are now crunchier and hold their shape better, meaning less food is wasted.

“We have also reduced the energy needed to make the new All Bran in our factory.

“On top of all this, every bowl still delivers more than 1/3rd (36%) of the daily fibre adults need to fuel a healthy gut, as well as being a source of vitamins and iron.”

It comes after Kellogg’s scrapped its popular All-Bran Golden Crunch cereal earlier this year, leaving customers disappointed.
