Kate Middleton, Angelina Jolie and Melania Trump are leading the charge of stars going blonde this fall

Do blondes really have more fun? It sure seems like it!

As we approach the colder months, many of pop culture’s leading ladies have been leaning into their blonde alter-egos, as they’ve ditched their dark roots for the upcoming season.

Gone are the days of embracing that ‘quiet luxury’ look with deep, rich, chestnut-brown hair, and instead, it’s looking like sunny blonde has arrived for Autumn.

In recent weeks, Princess Kate Middleton has debuted a brand-new blonde look, her cascading tresses looking lighter than ever before as she was spotted on her way to church service in Balmoral in late August.

And, on Thursday, her lighter hair stole the show as she joined her husband, Prince William, on a visit to the Natural History Museum in London as they returned to duties after their summer break.

Her long blonde locks seemed to be lighter at the top of her head, and a bit darker towards the bottom, giving a bit of an ombré effect.

But it turns out that she’s not the only one who has been in a blonde state of mind.

Actress Angelina Jolie has made the transition from dark brown to light, sandy blonde this year, as has First Lady Melania Trump in recent months.

In May, Melania sported silky brown hair with caramel-colored highlights, but seems to have gone a little lighter this summer.

She has noticeably added some lighter blonde highlights in her hair, as they were especially prominent when she visited victims of the Hill Country, Texas, floods with her husband this past July.

And, according to Lauren Paglionico, master colorist and founder of LRN Beauty in New York City, Fall is always ‘the perfect time’ to show off a new hair color, especially if you’re in the public eye.

‘There’s something about the seasonal shift that makes it feel like a natural moment for change,’ Paglionico explained exclusively to Daily Mail.

‘For some of these women, it’s possible they have something exciting on the horizon,’ she continued.

‘As for Kate, she’s been through a lot and I feel this is her way of reintroducing herself on her own terms,’ the stylist shared.

Although Paglionico admitted that typically, people like to dye their hair darker for the Fall, she’s definitely been seeing ‘a shift’ this season.

‘I believe a little lightness can brighten your whole look and really compliment your skin tone and eyes,’ she said.

But if you’re feeling inspired to change up your hair color to go blonde this Fall, there are some crucial things that you need to keep in mind about the process, according to renowned celebrity hairstylist Julien Farel.

‘Going from brunette to blonde is a process called double-process blonde, which involves bleaching the dark hair to remove its natural color pigments, followed by toner to achieve the desired shade,’ the founder of Julien Farel Restore Salon & Spa explained exclusively to Daily Mail.

‘It is generally not possible to achieve a safe and effective blonde in one session, especially with very dark brown hair, as it requires multiple bleaching stages,’ Farel continued.

And achieving a great shade of blonde isn’t something that could be done in two sessions, either – the stylist said that it can sometimes take multiple weeks or even months to achieve a natural-looking color.

‘It’s better to have appointments spaced weeks apart to preserve hair health,’ Farel said.

You also won’t want to make the mistake of dyeing your brunette hair straight to blond with an at-home kit.

‘The biggest mistake when dyeing hair blonde is attempting a complex color correction or bleaching process at home, as it is a multi-step professional process that requires understanding tones, managing previous color, and preventing severe damage,’ Farel told Daily Mail.

But that’s not where the hair horrors could end.

‘Other common mistakes include not reading instructions, using the wrong developer, leaving the dye on too long, and coloring previously dyed hair, which can lead to uneven results, breakage, or a hot orange root and hair,’ Farel warned.
