JESSIE J has revealed a secret struggle as she continues to receive hospital treatment for breast cancer.
The Price Tag singer ,37, admitted she struggles with being in the UK and needs a break from ‘anti-social’ London, as she faces more breast surgery in the coming weeks following a mastectomy in June.
Jessie J, who made a return to telly with a triumphant Strictly performance on Saturday, told followers she misses “my community” of LA, and revealed hopes to make a return before going under the knife again.
Posting on her Instagram story, the singer wrote: “I forgot how anti-social London is, I’ve been back for 10 months and it really is so distant and an isolating place to maintain a social life.
“Man, I miss LA and my community of people there. Might just book a flight and go before my surgery. I need some [battery emoji]]”.
Her remarks come as she made an emotional return to TV with a performance on BBC’s Strictly launch show on Saturday – marking the first since her full mastectomy in June.
Dressed in a red pant suit, Jessie performed her track Living My Best Life, from her upcoming album Don’t Tease Me with a Good Time, coming later this year.
The singer underwent the mastectomy procedure after she shared news of her early-stage diagnosis publicly via social media earlier this year,
In a video posted on her Instagram, she said: “I was diagnosed with early breast cancer.
“Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early’. It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job. I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery, and I will come back with massive tits and more music.”
But Jessie found herself back in hospital again just weeks after the procedure, with a suspected lung infection following her mastectomy.
In August, the singer announced that she will have to undergo another surgery before the end of the year, meaning she would have to postpone her 2025 tour dates.
“Unfortunately I have to have a second surgery – nothing too serious but it has to be done by the end of this year,” Jessie said at the time.
“This falls in the middle of the tour I had booked. I’m so sorry, I feel frustrated and sad, but I need to be better, I need to be healed.”
Her UK and European dates, which were scheduled for October 2025, are being pushed back to April 2026, to give her time to recover from the procedure – while planned US dates have been cancelled entirely.
But despite the recent health and career setbacks, Jessie is still working, and is set to release her sixth studio album, Don’t Tease Me With A Good Time, on November 28.
What are the signs of breast cancer?
BREAST cancer is the most common type of cancer in the UK.
The majority of women who get it are over 50, but younger women and, in rare cases, men can also get breast cancer.
If it’s treated early enough, breast cancer can be prevented from spreading to other parts of the body.
Breast cancer can have a number of symptoms, but the first noticeable symptom is usually a lump or area of thickened breast tissue.
Most breast lumps aren’t cancerous, but it’s always best to have them checked by your doctor. You should also speak to your GP if you notice any of the following:
- a change in the size or shape of one or both breasts
- discharge from either of your nipples (which may be streaked with blood)
- a lump or swelling in either of your armpits
- dimpling on the skin of your breasts
- a rash on or around your nipple
- a change in the appearance of your nipple, such as becoming sunken into your breast
