Jeremy Clarkson appears to make a dig at Stacey Solomon after beating her at the National Television Awards

Jeremy Clarkson appeared to make a pointed dig at Stacey Solomon as he celebrated his win at the National Television Awards on Wednesday night.

The former Top Gear presenter was triumphant as Clarkson’s Farm scooped the prize for Best Factual Entertainment, beating out strong competition from Stacey – who had not one but two shows nominated in the same category.

Both Sort Your Life Out and Stacey & Joe were up for the award, but despite double the odds, the Loose Women star left empty-handed.

Taking to the stage at the O2 Arena, Jeremy thanked the audience before joking about his trousers slipping down, explaining it was due to taking the diabetes drug Mounjaro.

Later, in the winners room, he took a swipe at Stacey’s work, telling the press: ‘It’s great that a farming show can beat a house cleaning show,’ in what appeared to be a reference to Sort Your Life Out.

It was not the only barbed remark from the outspoken star, who also declared during his acceptance speech that his team ‘worked way harder than anyone else in this room’.

The comments came just hours after Stacey had herself spoken out about what she called a ‘ludicrous’ decision by organisers to place both of her programmes in the same category.

Earlier in the day, after hearing Magic Radio presenters Tom Price and Lucy Horobin discussing how much they enjoyed Stacey & Joe, the 34-year-old phoned in to thank them.

When asked how she felt about competing against herself, Stacey admitted: ‘They’ve put Sort Your Life Out and Stacey & Joe in the same blummin’ category for some reason.

‘We’re up against each other which is absolutely ludicrous! But you know what, I’m so grateful to just be going, it’s so nice to be shortlisted and nominated knowing that it’s a public vote.’

The glittering awards event was rife with cringeworthy moments, and saw Maura Higgins and Danny Jones share an awkward and very public reunion.

The Love Island star, 34, and the McFly singer, 39, went on stage together when their show I’m A Celebrity scooped the prize for Best Reality Competition.

The pair hit headlines in February after sharing a drunken kiss together at an afterparty of the BRIT Awards – also held at the O2 Arena.

The McFly singer, 39, saw his marriage to model Georgia rocked after being pictured cosying up to Maura at a Universal Records party, with further reports claiming the pair had continued their night until 6am, sharing wine together at Nobu Hotel bar.

Since the scandal, neither Danny or Maura have attended any of the same events, but on Wednesday they were forced to share the same stage after I’m A Celeb’s win.

With hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly absent to collect the gong, the 2024 I’m A Celebrity cast took to the stage all together, with Danny giving the acceptance speech as the reigning champion, while Maura stood mere feet away.

Fans flooded X with comments about the encounter, with some insisting it was one of the most painfully awkward moments of the night.

They said: ‘Danny and Maura on stage …… I wouldn’t be happy if I was the wife

‘Was really hoping Maura wouldn’t be there. I know Danny and Georgia have moved past what happened but it must be hard for Georgia seeing them onstage together’,

‘The MESS of danny and maura being in the same shot after what happened at last years NTAs’,

‘Looool Danny and Maura having to share the same stage after everything’,

‘Let’s hope Danny and Maura can keep their hands off each other this time’,

‘Danny and Maura on stage together #NTAs.’
