Judge Terry O’Connor curiously scored it to Clarke.

But thankfully the other two watched the same fight as the gutted home crowd and new BBC Two audience.

“It was my second shot at the title but it felt like my first defence.

“I whooped him in his own backyard.

“I knew he would hold but he was blowing in the first 30 seconds, he thought we were only doing three rounds but we are not in the Olympics any more.

“I even had a point taken off and I still got the win.”

Clarke slipped out of the ring without being interviewed but – having won only one of his last four – he must now consider his future.

TKV did give a comeback option, saying: “ We can do a rematch if he wants it but back in my London.”
