JD Vance Gets a Big 2028 Endorsement – HotAir

I’m not a big believer in celebrity endorsements but they must be worth something because Democrats seem to lean into them every four years. This week, Vice President Vance picked up a pretty big one from an unexpected source.

It started with a tweet from rapper Nicki Minaj. She sent out this one word tweet (“Mood”) which included an embedded video of President Trump dancing.

And then she posted this next tweet, which later got deleted.

RT actually got this wrong. Minaj wasn’t comparing Vance to Chucky. Chucky seems to be her own alter ego on X. She’s posted a bunch of tweets with images of Chucky. “Vance > Rants” was apparently a comparison of JD Vance and Kamala Harris.

In any case, JD Vance (or someone working for him) quickly commented on the tweet adding “Nicki>Cardi.”

That’s a reference to an ongoing social media beef between Minaj and rival rapper Cardi B. Cardi B has been a frequent Trump critic. So, before Minaj deleted her tweet it looked like this:

Then, on Thursday, Minaj put up another tweet comparing Vance and Gavin Newsom. Why those two? Well, obviously, they are rivals now in some sense but more importantly they are likely to be squaring off in the 2028 presidential election.

She also vouched for Vance’s character and intelligence. Have I mentioned that she has 25.5 million followers on X?

The Trump War Room account then piggybacked on that with this silly video of the Vance meme dancing.

Today, she tweeted out another attack on Gavin Newsom, referencing something he said about trans people.

I’m not 100% sure which clip she’s reacting to but it could have been this one which was circulating on Wednesday and Thursday:

She’s still not done yet.

And one more aimed at Gavin:

Followed by a retweet of another video of Minaj and the Vance meme dancing.

Does any of this matter? Well, not to me it doesn’t. I don’t think I could name a Nicky Minaj song and that’s not a diss aimed at her, I just haven’t listened to much rap since about 1990. But obviously she is a very big figure in the rap world. One of the biggest in fact.

She’s the biggest streaming female rapper on Spotify with over 40 billion streams. So it does seem possible she could have some impact on people.

Of course connecting with rap stars hasn’t always ended well for Republicans but for the moment JD Vance seems to have picked up a big 2028 endorsement.
