Jason Donovan has spoken out about his infamous cocaine bender that led to him collapsing at model Kate Moss‘ 21st birthday party.
Speaking to Jamie Laing on the latest episode of his Great Company podcast, Donovan, 57, recalled how he was carried out of the notorious LA party spot The Viper Room on a stretcher.
He told Laing he started celebrating the supermodel’s birthday days before the actual event.
‘I flew in from Australia and scored some cocaine and it was pretty good quality,’ he admitted.
‘I mean, that is the truth you know and I “got on it” as they say, and that was two or three days before the event.’
Fast forward to the night of the party which was thrown by Moss’s then boyfriend Johnny Depp, Donovan admitted to being star-struck by the party’s guest list which included the likes of Michael Hutchence and supermodels Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista.

‘Suddenly, I found myself amongst all of these very famous people… and I just found myself overeating, shall we say,’ Donovan said.
He said that he passed out on the dance floor as Hutchence and Depp were wowing the crowd with a rendition of the Van Morrison classic Gloria.
‘And then this soap star from Australia who had been on a bender for two days suddenly finds himself in a stretcher with the room closed down and the lights gone up,’ he said.
‘Nothing to be proud of. [It was] through the roof embarrassing.’
While Donovan eventually stopped using drugs, he admitted that the ordeal was not the wake-up call it should have been.
When Laing asked if Donovan nearly died that night, he replied: ‘I can’t remember, but I got back on it straight away.’
‘I had the money and the ability to do what I wanted to do.’
Donovan was carried out of the nightclub by paramedics on a stretcher and rushed to LA’s Cedars-Sinai Hospital.

He discharged himself after just three hours and returned to the party to apologise.
Elsewhere, Donovan spoke candidly about his past drug use, admitting to going on days-long benders.
‘My drug take was more binge but long binges – like, three, four days,” Donovan said. ‘I think I went four days without sleep once.’
He also revealed the physical toll his drug use had taken, admitting: ‘I used to have seizures, too.’
Donovan said that the catalyst for quitting drugs was meeting his wife, Angela Malloch, whom he married in 2008, and the birth of their first child Gemma, 25.
‘Going back to getting out of that is you’ve got to want to change yourself,’ he said.
‘There are catalysts and, to cut a long story short, for me it was the birth of my first child and meeting my wife. That was the get-out clause I was waiting for.’
Donovan shares two more children with Malloch –Zac, 24, and Molly, 14.

Writing about the incident in his 2007 memoir Between The Lines: My Story Uncut, Donovan revealed the advice that Johnny Depp gave on the fateful night.
‘By midnight the party had hit the dance floor, but I knew I was about to go. My heart was racing, my vision was blurring and I was becoming disorientated,’ Donovan wrote.
‘I tried to steady myself but my legs buckled under me and I fell to the floor.’
Donovan recalled telling Depp he was ‘really sorry’ about the incident, to which Depp allegedly replied: ‘That’s cool, don’t worry.’
‘We’re just pleased that you are okay. Now take some advice from me: go to your room, get some sleep and for God’s sake, take it easy in future,’ Depp said, according to Donovan.
