James May takes brutal swipe at Jeremy Clarkson live on Lorraine as he reveals why he’ll NEVER visit his pub The Farmer’s Dog

James May didn’t hold back as he took a brutal swipe at Jeremy Clarkson live on Friday’s episode of Lorraine, revealing why he’ll NEVER visit his pub The Farmer’s Dog.

The 62-year-old appeared on the ITV show to chat to step-in host Christine Lampard, 46, about his upcoming tour which starts in Woking, Surrey, at the end of the month.

Right at the end of the interview, Christine asked him: ‘Have you been banned from Jeremy Clarkson’s pub?’

Jeremy, who has starred in Top Gear and The Grand Tour together with James and Richard Hammond, opened the boozer in Burford, Oxfordshire in August last year.

But apparently two people aren’t allowed in: James and Keir Starmer

James told Christine: ‘Apparently… but I have said before that’s a bit like being banned from the golf club because I wasn’t going to go anyway!

‘I’ve got my own pub, which is just around the corner.

‘I’m not going to go 75 miles to his. Especially because mine is better.’

Christine couldn’t contain her laughter as she replied: ‘There you go, and on that note…

‘James it’s been lovely to see you!’

The pair have worked very closely over the years alongside Richard Hammond.

The trio are arguably best known for their stint on Top Gear, which ran between 2002 and 2022.

They then went on to star in The Grand Tour, which premiered on Amazon Prime in 2016.

There has been 46 episodes across six series.

Speaking about his time with Jeremy and Richard on their shows, James said: ‘It did occupy 25 years of my life.

‘I worked at that job longer than I’ve worked at any other.

‘That’s almost half of my life, over half of my working life doing that.

‘It is quite remarkable, but it’s gone now and I’m just old!’

But James isn’t the only person banned from the pub.

Jeremy recently revealed that he has considered banning ‘faddy eaters’ from his pub after a customer attempted a £50,000 drink scam.

Since opening, business has been booming, with thousands of people flocking to grab a pint at the TV presenter’s new venue.

But Clarkson has today expressed frustration over some punters he accused of trying to dupe the Farmer’s Dog out of cash, in a ‘scam’ he has branded a fraud ‘epidemic’.

The star said his boozer had become a mecca for ‘food intolerance enthusiasts’ who, after eating or drinking there, claim they were ‘poisoned’ and demanded ‘£50,000’.

Writing for The Times, Clarkson said: ‘We had one the other day who said she’d been given beer instead of cider and the gluten in it had made her so ill she’d had to cancel her holiday and we now had to reimburse her.

‘Happily, we have her on CCTV not drinking beer, so we are safe on that one. But often landlords aren’t so lucky. Many tell me this food intolerance fraud is now an epidemic.

‘And even when it isn’t fraudulent, it’s still annoying, because these faddy eaters demand that the kitchen staff jump through hoops to ensure they will not be served anything that might upset them…

‘I’m seriously thinking of banning people with food intolerances. I know it would be commercial suicide but they are just so annoying.’
