THE dad of James Bulger has warned justice chiefs his son’s killer will murder another child if he is freed.
Ralph Bulger urged the Parole Board to keep Jon Venables, 43, locked up as it considers a release before Christmas.
He spoke out after we revealed he and ex-wife Denise Fergus, 57, had successfully applied to speak at Venables’ latest hearing next month.
Ralph said: “Venables is more of a threat today than he ever was and he will be living next door to some poor innocent family if they let him go. He will kill again if he comes out.”
James, two, was abducted, tortured and murdered on Merseyside by Venables and Robert Thompson, then both ten, in 1993.
Venables was freed with a new name in 2001 after just eight years in a youth prison.
But he was recalled in 2010 and 2017 over child sex abuse image offences.
Ralph, 59, went on: “So many of today’s young families know nothing about the barbaric crime. Venables is protected by an anonymity order but unsuspecting communities are kept in the dark about him.
“Venables is a predatory paedophile killer and yet our system has twice seen fit to let him free to live amongst us only for him to keep re-offending. I cannot work out how or why Venables has been given so many chances.”
The killer was refused parole in 2023.
The Sun told yesterday he was set to refuse to appear in person before the latest panel — instead giving evidence in writing or via a video-link.
Ralph said: “I know I won’t be able to see Venables — but I want him to hear me tell the board to keep him jailed for life.
“I want him to hear me speak of the devastation he has caused, and I want him to listen as I tell the board that I know he will abuse and kill another innocent child.”
