GERVONTA DAVIS has been withdrawn from his exhibition fight against Jake Paul amid allegations of domestic abuse.
The controversial lightweight world champion was due to face YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul on November 14 in Miami on streaming service Netflix.
But the event was thrown into doubt after Davis was hit with allegations of battery and kidnapping by ex-girlfriend Courtney Rossel.
Most Valuable Promotions – co-founded by Paul – launched an investigation and scrambled to find a potential replacement.
But on just two weeks notice, the event has been CANCELLED, without a new date or replacement announced.
MVP confirmed in a statement: “Our team has worked closely with all parties to navigate this situation responsibly.
“While we will not be moving forward with this event, our plan still remains for Jake Paul to headline an event on Netflix in 2025.
Details regarding a new date, location, Jake’s opponent, and additional bouts will be shared as soon as they are finalized.
“We thank Netflix, the Kaseya Center, and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for their partnership.”
Paul, 28, said in a scathing post: “Gervonta Davis is an actual walking human piece of garbage. Working with him is an absolute nightmare.
“The unprofessionalism, the bizarre requests, the showing up hours late to shoots. To the numerous arrests and related accusations and lawsuits.
“If you support this man you support the most vile sin a man can commit. I didn’t want to give this woman abuser a platform to grow his fans and to grow his bank account.
“My company champions women. I’m so sorry to everyone involved. Mostly to the undercard fighters, to my team at MVP and to my team who worked so hard prepping for this fight.
“Sacrificing time with loved ones and kids just for this fool to lose his unintelligent mind again. It’s scary that devilish men like this can rise to the top of culture and sports, including in positions of power.
“I hope you people moving forward look beyond his fake streetwear pieces “SWAG” and search for something deeper to be a fan of.
“As for me it’s on to the next one as always. Anyone. Anytime. Any place.”
Paul’s camp approached several names to replace Davis, 30.
Ryan Garcia, 27, was top of the list after being offered a postponed date in December.
But the American is contracted to DAZN and set to fight WBC welterweight world champion Marrio Barios, 30, next year.
Ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou, 39, was also approached but claimed he felt “disrespected.”
Pound-for-pound star Terence Crawford, 38, and retired legend Andre Ward, 41, were also contacted over their availability.
And Eddie Hearn put forward Anthony Joshua’s name with the 36-year-old looking to return before the end of the year.
But Paul’s search for a new fight date and opponent continues with December 12th and 19th targeted.
Davis was initially arrested in Miami in July with reports suggesting he was facing a battery charge against ex-girlfriend Rossel.
New allegations have now emerged with Rossel claiming Davis attacked her on October 27 and previously made threats to kill.
Rossel filed a civil lawsuit on Thursday accusing the boxer of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
She also claimed there were “at least” four previous incidents when he “physically assaulted and choked” her.
Rossel is seeking damages “of over $50,000” (£38,145) as she is seeking therapeutic treatment to help her deal with her PTSD from the alleged attack.
Davis was pulled over while driving after police ran his plates and saw he had an outstanding warrant.
He was previously accused of domestic violence in 2023 by Vanessa Posso, the mother of his daughter.
Davis is yet to comment on Rossel’s new allegations.
