A WOMAN has been praised after sharing how she makes an omelette using her air fryer.
Michelle showed just how easy it is to whip up the egg-based meal in a video on her TikTok page, demonstrating as she made a mushroom one.
“If you haven’t tried an omelette in the air fryer you really need to give it a try,” she said.
“Just mix all your ingredients together, pop it into the tray with some greaseproof paper.”
She gave the mixture a gentle shake, and set the air fryer for 15 minutes at 180 degrees.
Michelle then returned to the air fryer 15 minutes later, and showed just how perfectly golden brown it looked as she peeled it off the paper and plated it up.
“It’s so easy and you’ll get the perfect omelette every single time,” she concluded.
“Would you look at that?”
One of the best things about Michelle’s hack is that you can literally make any omelette of your choosing simply by mixing up the ingredients.
And the comments section was almost immediately filled with people praising her for sharing her cooking hack.
“Looks amazing, wish I had an air fryer!” one wrote.
“Ok no gonna lie this looks so easy,” another added.
“My omelette ends up like scrabbled egg in a pan!”
“I’m very much a ‘if it fits in the air fryer – it’s getting cooked in the air fryer’ person,” a third commented.
“That looks amazing!” someone else praised.
As another asked: “Each to their own, but what did you find hard doing it in the pan?”
“Saves me keeping an eye on it,” Michelle replied.
“And the fact mine’s forever stuck to the pan!”
Rise of the air fryer
Air fryers have maintained their spot as the most popular kitchen gadget in the UK last year.
Annual sales figures from Lakeland show sales of air fryers were up 1,175% on last year – when they were already soaring in popularity – as households continue their efforts to save energy on standard ovens.
The retailer said: “In previous years, their popularity could be attributed to consumers seeking healthier cooking options and fast cooking times.
“However, with the cost-of-living crisis continuing, air fryers have a renewed appeal as an efficient alternative to oven cooking.”
The only other products that “shaped the year” were heated airers – with sales up 51% – and heated textiles, such as heated throws and ponchos, Lakeland said, as households bought gadgets as an alternative to expensive dryers and central and electric heaters.
But not everyone was convinced by the hack.
“Not everything belongs in the air fryer – much quicker in a pan,” one person sighed.
“I don’t get it.. just make an omelette the normal way!” another urged.
“Air frying is a cult.”
“It takes 5 minutes to cook a much better omelette in a frying pan,” a third argued.
