Isak and Wirtz combine as Reds beat nine-man Spurs but £130m striker dealt new injury blow

LIVERPOOL’S resurgence continued on Saturday night after a frantic 2-1 win over nine-man Tottenham.

Alexander Isak netted just his second Premier League goal since his £130million move to get the Reds in front.

But the former Newcastle striker was injured in the process and went off injured in a major blow to Arne Slot.

And £116.5m man Florian Wirtz then grabbed his first ever assist in the top flight to set up Hugo Ekitike to make it 2-0.

Spurs saw their own big-money signing Xavi Simons sent off in the first half with the score at 0-0 after hacking at Virgil van Dijk from behind.

The home side went close through Kolo Muani’s header, while the Frenchman also hit the bar.

Tottenham then pulled one back through substitute Richarlison – but Spurs couldn’t find an equaliser and ended the contest with nine men after Cristian Romero was shown another red.
