Hardliners in Iran are ramping up calls for a nuclear bomb in defiance of the US and Israel, two senior Iranian sources said.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) are now dominant following the death of Supreme Leader Khamenei, so hardline views on Iran’s nuclear stance are on the rise, the sources told Reuters.

The West has always believed Iran wants the nuclear bomb, but the state has always denied this, saying Khamenei had banned nuclear arms as forbidden in Islam.

But serious voices inside the government are now reportedly questioning the existing policy and demanding a change.
