Inside the Wright family’s Christmas as Strictly star Jess reveals row over potatoes and brother Mark ‘getting the hump’

WHEN it comes to a big family Christmas, no one does it better than the Wright family.

But much like us regular folk, the Towie stars also have their fair share of chaos over the festive season.

The Wright family burst onto the scene back in 2010 when Mark Wright became a star on The Only Way Is Essex.

Over the years all of the family – headed up by Carol and Mark Sr – have appeared on the show.

Mark’s sister Jess has launched an incredible career off the back of the hit Essex-based reality show.

In fact, she even landed a spot on Strictly Come Dancing‘s Christmas special this year.

Huge reality star set to join Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special

Jess’ family are known for their over-the-top festive fun, and often share on Instagram their homes all decorated for the holidays.

From extravagant Christmas trees, to Mark and wife Michelle Keegan‘s mansion being lit up for the festive season, the Wright family celebrate in style.

However, Jess has been spilling the beans on the chaos behind-the scenes, and how her brother is known for “getting the hump” on the big day.

The Sun caught up with the reality star as she visited Winter Wonderland in London in the run up to Christmas.

HEADING TO MUM’S

Jess revealed they would all be heading to the Wright family home for Christmas Day and all the plans are all in place.

“We are all going to be at my mum’s this year. Mum’s got the cooking memo,” she told us.

Jess then added: “We’ve got all the kids. We’ve got a little playroom so we can kind of shove them all in there…no, I’m only joking.”

Referring to her late Nanny Pat, who was a Towie icon back in the day, Jess said: “My mum is cooking and she has learnt a lot from my nan cooking-wise.

“I do a mean pea dish. It’s a really nice pea and pancetta dish.”

POTATO-GATE

Jess also let The Sun into a BIG Wright family Christmas scandal involving potatoes.

“Years and years ago when we had 20 odd people together, my mum and aunty used Aunt Bessie’s roast potatoes,” she revealed.

Continuing Jess admitted: “But they tried to pretend that they were home cooked and they got found out straight away and they have never lived it down!”

KARAOKE CHRISTMAS

Before Mark and Jess started having children of their own, Christmas Day wasn’t as tame as it is now – and it often involved singing.

The star revealed: “We used to really go for it Christmas night and go for it with karaoke but since the kids have come along, we are all just a bit shattered.

“So actually we go for it more on Boxing Day now.”

However, she revealed that sometimes there is sibling rivarly with her brother.

“Mark normally brings the karaoke machine, then hogs it all night and gets the hump when I sing because I can actually sing and he can’t,” Jess joked.

“That’s normally how boxing day goes down. Champagne and a nice mulled wine is my tipple.”
