A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect as neighbours describe a squalid home as the “flat from hell”.
The Kent property smelt so bad that one resident reported it to the police believing someone may have died inside.

When cops arrived to the address earlier this year, they found the property had been left vacant.
A 26-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of child neglect and animal cruelty.
She received conditional bail and is expected to return on July 4.
Horrified neighbours are now urging the relevant housing association to carry out an urgent clean up.
The property remains unsecure and images taken inside show scattered belongings and filth.
Smeared with what appears to be human faeces, the walls have been discoloured and mattresses soiled.
The stairs have been littered with toilet paper, debris and litter.
Boxes of children‘s toys which were not discarded have also piled up in the living areas.
Shopping bags filled with waste and cardboard have been cast astray leaving the floors barely visible.
Mountains of clothes, food wrappers and even wood seem to cover the carpet.
Whilst the toilet has been left full and in a horrendous state.
One neighbour spoke of the lack of action to properly dispose of the waste since the previous tenant left in December 2024.
Residents claim to have contacted the housing association Mears Living but no real action has been taken.
“It’s horrible – I can’t even put it into words,” one anonymous neighbour said.
“The smell was so bad that we thought someone had died up there. That’s why we called the police.
“We are all incredibly upset that we have to deal with this. I smell it every single day. It makes me feel sick. The fact that children were living there is horrific.
“The flies are absolutely everywhere. It’s unbearable.”
One person told KentOnline how the rotting waste and fly infestation has meant they no longer want to live in the area.
They added: ““The smell, the flies, the health risks – it’s like we’re being completely ignored. It feels like no one cares.
“It’s been nearly four months and still nothing. It’s a nightmare.
“But it’s not just about the mess, it’s about being ignored. It’s about having to fight for basic decency. No one should have to live like this.”
“The fact children were living in this makes me feel sick to my stomach.”
A spokesperson from Mears Living told KentOnline: “We’re aware of the issues and work to clear and clean the property will start next week.”
