Inside Cliff Richard’s incredible Barbados home as it finally sells after eight years on the market

SIR CLIFF Richard has finally sold his sprawling Barbados home after eight years on the market – but was forced to take a £1million hit.

The music legend, 85, had his plush Caribbean holiday pad listed on the market for a whopping £6.8million in 2017, but the property struggled to sell and even led to him trying to flog it as an Airbnb retreat.

But estate agents overseeing the sale of his mega-mansion have now listed the home as ‘under offer’ at a reduced price of £5.91million, after almost a decade of failed attempts.

His holiday pad, Coral Sundown, boasts six en-suite bedrooms with stunning views of the Caribbean Sea, as well as a bar, swimming pool and a covered terrace.

The huge property sits on 2.6 acres of land – tucked away in the opulent and ultra-exclusive Sugar Hills Tennis Resort – where properties sell for millions of pounds.

Sir Cliff, who just days ago revealed his shock cancer diagnosis, has owned the luxury villa for 23 years, but as of late, the singer was operating it as a £3,000-a-night Airbnb, after his hopes to sell met a stalemate.

His Airbnb listing read: “The property is beautifully landscaped with huge palm trees lining the entrance leading to a fabulous six-bedroom mansion that is home to one of the most popular British singers of our time.”

But the chart-topper laid down strict rules for the pad, which included “no pets, parties or smoking“.

His exotic pad was profiled in property magazine Country & Town House, which read: “Situated within the ultra-exclusive Sugar Hills Tennis Resort is Coral Sundown, a palatial villa which has belonged to Sir Cliff Richard for the past 23 years.

“Encompassing three acres of immaculate gardens and grounds – not to mention a swimming pool, sun deck and tennis court – the property is nothing short of magnificent.

“Inside, you’ll find six bedroom suites, each boasting a private balcony. As well as a large kitchen and open dining area, there are numerous reception spaces including a media room and a fully equipped bar.”

News of his property sale comes as the singer this week revealed he received treatment for prostate cancer during a health check-up before going on tour.

Sir Cliff explained, luckily, the cancer was caught early and had not spread – and he is now backing calls for a national screening test for men, and wants King Charles to raise awareness of the importance of early diagnosis.

He said: “The cancer’s gone at the moment. I don’t know whether it’s going to come back.

“We can’t tell those sort of things but we need, absolutely, I’m convinced, get there, get tested, get checked.”

It comes after Sir Cliff said in the summer he “could be dead in a year” – and revealed he may have to quit touring as he gets older.

Meanwhile, the monarch, who announced he was being treated for cancer in February last year, revealed on Friday his treatment will be reduced.

Discussing how important it is for men to get tested early Sir Cliff added: “I think we as men have got to start saying it, we’ve got to be seen as human beings who may die of this thing.”

Mr Murnaghan, who himself is being treated for stage 4 prostate cancer, said: “Prostate cancer, we should put out there, is the most prevalent cancer amongst men and the biggest cancer killer of men. There is no national screening programme.”

In light of this news Sir Cliff admitted that he would love to join forces with His Majesty The King to raise awareness, and said: “I’ve been involved with many charities over the years and if the King is happy to front it for us, I’m sure loads of people, I certainly would join him…

“If the King is listening, I think most of us would say yeah – we’re available!”
