Influencer reveals she quit Dubai for the Isle of Man after it left her in ‘a state of depression’

Dubai is often a dream location for many, with its luxurious shopping malls, hot weather and amazing landscapes.

But for Rosie Routledge, the reality didn’t quite live up to what she expected and she left for the Isle of Man instead.

The influencer, who goes by @rosieeroutledge on TikTok, shared why she moved in a recent video.

‘Dubai is too convenient,’ Rosie began, before going on to explain her reasoning.

‘For me, when I can get literally anything delivered to my doorstep, within 20 minutes, I have no reason to leave the house.’

The Brit revealed how working from home and barely needing to go outside impacted her mental health.

She said: ‘When I was working from home and ordering online, I was finding myself literally going weeks without stepping foot outside my door.

‘As you can imagine, that sent me into a state of depression.’

Rosie also felt like the ‘novelty’ of the glamour and luxury that Dubai offers ‘wears off’ and ended up impacting her perception.

‘Dubai has the best of the best and when you’re around it all the time, you start to get used to it,’ she explained.

When jaw-dropping sights like the Burj Khalifa and impressive shopping malls are constantly around, ‘they’re not as special’, according to Rosie.

She added: ‘When you then leave Dubai, nowhere else compares. So you’re not happy in Dubai, and you’re not happy out of Dubai.’

Another point Rosie made was ‘everyone is always hustling’ which she felt was a ‘great thing’ but came with some downsides.

‘I feel sometimes it makes you feel like you’re competing with people.

‘You’re basically all in a rat race, everyone’s trying to make the most money, drive the best cars, have the nicest things, and if you’re not at a certain level, you feel like you’re failing,’ she said.

However, out of everything Rosie mentioned, the main reason she left Dubai was because she missed her family.

✨ 🇦🇪 Little life update for you all… my Dubai journey has come to an end. Living in Dubai has been a truly amazing experience, I’ve had highs & lows and met some amazing people however my experience as of late wasn’t that great and for me personally I knew it was time to go. ‘I don’t have a bad word to say about Dubai, I truly thank Dubai for what it’s done for me and I do believe if I’d have stayed, I probably could have taken my influencing and everything to a whole new level,’ she added.

Now, Rosie wants to enjoy a ‘slower pace of life’ and enjoy time with her loved ones.

She said: ‘But, it’s just not aligning with what I want in my life now, I’m craving wholesome vibes, seasons, I can’t wait for autumn, winter, spending time with my family, just a slower pace of life.’

Rosie felt like like the lifestyle was ‘isolating and lonely after a while’ and went on to describe the Isle of Man as ‘the complete opposite of Dubai’.
