I’m lifting the lid on the disaster that’s Evri, I thought it’d be the perfect job for extra cash but it’s cost ME money

A MUM who wanted to bring in some extra cash has opened up about becoming an Evri delivery driver.

Jacqueline decided to try her luck delivering parcels for the courier, but just two days in – she wasn’t sure she’d made the right decision.

She took to TikTok to share her experience, which she’d started the day before with a training session, as she said the two guys teaching her were “really nice chaps”.

They gave her a postcode to go to for the next day, and told her to arrive at around 9.30am.

She did so, but an hour and a half later, she was still queuing to even get into the warehouse to pick up the packages to deliver.

Jacqueline added that she’d hoped she’d be able to turn up at a quieter time, pick up her parcels and head on her way.

But she admitted she doesn’t think she’d be able to do that, especially as the warehouse doesn’t open until 9am, so deliveries can’t take place until nine at the earliest.

“I just don’t understand how anyone can make money out of this because if people are spending an hour or two queuing because they don’t open till 9…” she said in a video on her TikTok page.

“So you can’t even start delivering before 9, which is just crazy.

“You’d expect a warehouse of this size to open earlier!”

The queues were only just starting to go down, with Jacqueline adding: “That car park is full and no one’s getting in!”

“Yeah, it’s really not the one for me,” she concluded.

The comments section was almost immediately filled with people weighing in on Evri as a side hustle.

“I tried it once – never again,” one wrote.

“4 hours just to get in and load car (unpaid)… Car got battered doing the round.

“Didn’t get in done in time and got paid pennies!”

“Plus using your own car, you will need to make sure your car insurance covers you – it probably won’t,” another pointed out.

“Evri are a nightmare did it a few days never again,” a third said.

Jacqueline’s video quickly went viral after being shared on TikTok, with 13.1k people viewing it so far.

And, responding to the clip, Evri told Fabulous Online that their “28,000 self-employed couriers are at the heart of our business, and a key component of Evri’s success”.

“Our couriers are paid an average of £20.86 per hour, and we have an industry-leading offer with paid holiday, pension, parental leave and insurance-backed paid sick leave,” the spokesperson added.

“The average time a courier waits at this site is around ten minutes, with new couriers such as Jacqueline usually being assigned a midday slot to collect their parcels.

“We are opening another site nearby in the coming weeks to support with increased volumes.”
