A solo traveller who has visited almost every European country has revealed where he felt the safest.
Dutch travel content creator Luke Patrick Hoogmoed regularly shares his trips on Instagram under the username, @lukepatrickh.
Earlier this year, Luke opened up about his thoughts on where he felt the safest after visiting ‘basically every country in Europe multiple times’ in an Instagram post.
For the solo traveller, Eastern Europe proved to be some of the best locations.
He penned: ‘This is my top 10 safest countries in Europe based on my experience. I have travelled to basically every country in Europe multiple times, so my opinion is not based on one good or bad trip I had in a country.
‘As you can tell, it’s a lot of Eastern European countries that are on this list. That’s not a coincidence.’
Luke described how he felt ‘Eastern Europe is much safer compared to the West’.
He added: ‘Especially big cities in Western and Northern Europe aren’t as safe as you might expect.’

The solo traveller explained big Eastern European cities are typically ‘incredibly safe, clean, and kind to travellers’.
At the top of Luke’s list was Poland, which attracts millions of tourists a year with its food and impressive architecture.
Luke wrote: ‘Two years later my opinion hasn’t changed. I’m still in love with all the Eastern European countries and I won’t stop exploring them until I’ve been to every remote village there is to find!’
The solo traveller also gave his verdict on where he thinks is the safest outside of Eastern Europe.
‘Finland, Denmark, and Portugal did make the list though,’ he explained.
Luke then went on to share his top destination in Europe overall.
‘Portugal in general is my favourite country in Western Europe,’ he continued.
Denmark, placed second on Luke’s list, followed by Hungary and Finland in third and fourth.
