A MUM has revealed the truth about not being a ‘mumsy mum’ and she refuses to feel guilty about it.
Atlanta Wilson is a mum of two and currently living in Bali on a ‘family gap year.’

While many mums say they put their kids above everything else, Atlanta revealed that she still makes herself a priority in more ways than one.
To start, she revealed that she often spends more money on her clothes than she does on her two sons.
“They grow out of everything and are messy boys, it just makes more sense,” she explained.
She also admitted to giving them the iPad when she needed a break and refused to play ‘pretend’ with them.
“I can’t be a dinosaur for 45 minutes, I’ll take you somewhere fun instead,” she added.
Atlanta was also not one to play out the perfect mum to her kids, saying she wanted them to see her work, rest, live and have ‘meltdowns’, teaching them it was normal.
The cheeky mum also admitted that she will often tell her children her food is spicy so she doesn’t have to share.
She said: “Especially chocolate. How cruel…”
The mum was also not one for helping out at school events and volunteering, she just wanted to show up for her boys and have fun.
And the mum wasn’t about to give up her social life either.
Atlanta added: “Skipping a few bedtimes for the gym or girls’ night, or hiring help, it’s my first time living too.”
The clip went viral on her TikTok account @atlanta.wilson with over 171k views and 18k likes.
Many took to the comments and while some disagreed with her methods, many said they couldn’t agree more.
One person wrote: “I don’t have iPads for myself, let alone my kid. I just put Disney channel on. Cartoons are fine and psychologists say TV does not have a detrimental effect on their growing minds…”
Another commented: “They’re going to mimic your meltdowns as they grow and eventually your going to have a problem.”
More parenting hacks
IF you want to make your life easier as a first-time mum, here’s nine hacks you won’t want to miss.
1. Routine Charts
Create visual charts for daily routines. Use pictures and stickers to make them engaging for younger children.
2. Meal Planning
Plan meals a week in advance to save time and reduce stress. Involve your children in meal prep to teach them cooking skills.
3. Toy Rotation
Keep a portion of toys stored away and rotate them periodically. This keeps playtime fresh and exciting without the need for constant new purchases.
4. DIY Cleaning Solutions
Make child-safe cleaning solutions using vinegar and baking soda. It’s effective and keeps harsh chemicals away from little hands.
5. Time-Out Jar
Create a time-out jar filled with calming activities written on slips of paper. When emotions run high, children can pick an activity to help them settle down.
6. Educational Apps
Utilise educational apps and websites to make screen time productive. Look for ones that offer interactive learning in subjects your child is interested in.
7. Command Centre
Set up a family command centre with a calendar, key hooks, and a bulletin board. It helps keep everyone organised and aware of daily schedules.
8. Emergency Kit
Keep a small emergency kit in the car with essentials like snacks, water, first aid supplies, and a change of clothes. It’s a lifesaver for unexpected situations.
9. Label Everything
Use labels for clothes, school supplies, and lunch boxes. It makes it easier to keep track of belongings, especially in shared spaces like schools.
“Could not agree more,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “Aside from the going out, I fully agree.”
“I agree with every single thing you said,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “It’s OUR life too. Happy mum, happy kids, happy life.”
