Crew-neck tees, chunky knits and triangle scarves: the joy of dressing for a crisp autumn day can be summed up in one word: layering. And the best final layer? A statement coat.

Outerwear can be an investment, but once you’ve found a coat that fits your style, you’ll wear it for years to come. We’ve already spotted some seriously good options on the high street – and one label that’s really upped its cover-up game this season is Nobody’s Child. (Yes, the British-born fashion brand known for its floral frocks.)

Scroll on to shop my favourite picks from the new collection, from a gingham navy trench coat to an olive green scarf shawl coat.

The best coats to shop at Nobody’s Child for AW25

One outerwear piece that’s synonymous with autumn is the trench coat. The classic camel colourway is unlikely to ever go out of style – this one features a contrast check trim, double-breasted buttons and epaulettes for an elevated fit.

Speaking of trench coats, this navy cover-up has a contrasting gingham collar and turned-up statement cuffs. With its front button-fastening and relaxed fit, it’s ideal for layering over chunky knitwear when those crisp mornings (inevitably) roll around.

Nobody’s Child has gone big on checks this season. Another example? This blue-and-beige quilted jacket, which we’d team with some relaxed denim and lace-up boots for a country walk. It features a frill collar, patch pockets and brown button front.

The ultimate It-girl outerwear staple this season? A chocolate brown wool coat. This one comes perfectly oversized, allowing you to comfortably layer your chunky knits underneath, and is long enough to keep you warm on even the chilliest winter days.

No longer just considered countryside, a barn jacket is now a mainstay in our transitional wardrobe. We love the brown cord collar and matching cuffs on this camel one, as well as its oversized fit and funnel tab collar. It also comes in a dark navy colour.

Remember the fashionable yet functional scarf coat trend from last winter? Nobody’s Child has given a quilted update for AW25. This khaki jacket (which also comes in black, FYI) has a detachable scarf, popper buttons and patch pockets.

Sign up for that alert because we’re predicting this wool coat will sell out as soon as it lands on the site. We’re obsessed with the detachable shawl, and the olive green hue pairs perfectly with our seasonal colour palette of whites, greys, blues and blacks.
