I’M A Celebrity’s third-place campmate Shona McGarty has revealed the real reason behind her close bond with rapper Aitch.
The former EastEnders actress and hit rapper became close Down Under with Aitch even admitting to having a “soft spot” for her amid blossoming romance rumours.
Now, Shona has admitted exactly what drew her to the star as she opened up on their connection during her exit interview with hosts Ant and Dec.
Having left the jungle in third place, Shona admitted she was drawn to Aitch’s vulnerability.
She said: “To be completely honest, when he came in, he had this rapper thing going on, ‘mega’ and all that.
“But actually underneath it all, I could tell that he was quite scared of the whole experience.
“He is normal, he is down to earth.
We’ve had a similar sort of upbringing – I just felt like an older sister and I wanted to protect him.”
The pair stayed close throughout their time in camp and provided support to one another.
But rapper Aitch denied that it would turn into a romance despite being open about searching for love in the camp.

In one episode, Aitch, 25, was seen wrapping his legs around Shona, 34, during a play fight, and they also cuddled up while watching a trial.
But he was stunned to hear about the speculation after he exited camp in fourth place in a shock elimination last night.
He said he bonded with Shona over their love for music – with Shona seeking to carve out a new career as a singer after releasing her debut single.
Mancunian Aitch, real name Harrison Armstrong, told The Sun: “I’ve just heard it five minutes ago!
“No, Shona’s just a cool person. I feel like me and Shona are just cut from the same cloth in a way. We just have the same sense of humour.
“Obviously I’ve not watched the show, so I don’t know what’s been put out there in any way – but it was nothing like that.
“I just think we had a bond over a bit of a music thing – me knowing that she’s trying to come out of the jungle and pursue this music career, me having a music career.
“It was just more like there’s only really me and Martin (Kemp) she can speak to about certain things.”
Aitch left the show 24 hours before the final in fourth place despite long being a favourite to win.
Shona landed in third place during the final with online streamer Angry Ginge being crowned King of the Jungle beating Celebs Go Dating star Tom Read Wilson.
