Tony, who shot to fame as a broadcaster in the 60s on Radio Caroline, was joined in the jungle in 2002 by the likes of Nigel Benn, Darren Day and Rhona Cameron.

In the tense final 23 years ago, the radio legend managed to beat Christine Hamilton and the late Tara Palmer-Tomkinson to become the first ever King of the Jungle.

But despite the success he had on I’m A Celebrity, he revealed how he wouldn’t sign up to go into the jungle now.

Speaking on GMB this morning he said: “No, I wouldn’t do it. I wouldn’t cope now.”

Tony added: “Well, they wouldn’t want me because I’m a vegetarian.

“So I never had to eat all that horrible stuff they eat.”

Reflecting on his time in the jungle, Tony said: “We had no idea what we were letting ourselves in for.

“I mean, it’s much tougher now.”

Tony also previously ruled himself out of doing the I’m A Celebrity spin-off show, All Stars.

This show, which will air again next year, sees former campmates from all different series, come together to have another go at winning the title.

But Tony told The Sun that he would also never sign up for All Stars.

In an exclusive chat, shortly after the first series of All Stars started in 2023, he told us: “I loved doing the show and I hate to criticise but I was watching it last night and it’s just horrible.

“Eating bits of penis is revolting. I don’t think that is entertainment.

“I can’t watch it. I turn away.

“I don’t want to see celebrities vomiting on TV, especially after eating antelopes.”

“If they did ask me to take part I’d say no, I wouldn’t want to do it again.

“I’m talking to one or two other people who won it and I don’t think most of them would.”
