DREAM TEAM managers should always be aware of potential bargains.
In reverse order, check out the five best performers this season currently available for under £4million.
Chris Richards (£3.7m) – 81 pts
All members of Crystal Palace’s first-choice back five feature in the top 12 defenders at this moment in time.
And their USA international is the cheapest of the lot.
Richards is above Ezri Konsa (£4.3m), William Saliba (£5.2m) and Marc Cucurella (£4.6m) in the rankings.
Surely he deserves to feature in more than 2% of teams?
Matty Cash (£3.6m) – 86 pts
Aston Villa’s right-back has been in excellent form this season having scored two goals on top of six clean sheets.
The Villains were slow out the blocks but have rectified that of late having won eight of their last 10 games in all competitions.
Only Daniel Munoz (£5.7m) has registered more shots on target than Cash among defenders at this stage.
The Poland international has to be considered an excellent value-for-money option for Gameweek 12 with Unai Emery’s side due to face goal-shy Leeds and Young Boys in an appealing double header.
Diego Gomez (£2.9m) – 91 pts
The Brighton midfielder is by far and away the best performer among assets cheaper than £3m — he’s an ultra bargain!
Over a third of Gomez’s points came from one prosperous outing against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup when he scored four goals in the space of 59 minutes.
Some gaffers may scoff at that but capitalising on mismatches in the additional competitions is a perfectly legitimate strategy.
The Paraguay international has forced his way into the Seagulls’ Premier League XI and a return of 26 points from his last two outings against Leeds and Palace should not be overlooked.
However, Gomez does not have extra point-scoring opportunities in the form of European fixtures.

Maxence Lacroix (£3.9m) – 92 pts
Another of Oliver Glasner’s regulars and much of what applied to Richards is also relevant here.
Lacroix ranks seventh among defenders and is statistically the most in-form player in his position having added 28 points to his tally across his last three appearances.
The 25 year-old Frenchman has contributed a goal and two assists on top of seven clean sheets and his total of 27 tackles isn’t to be sniffed at either.
The Eagles are scheduled to play Wolves and Strasbourg in Gameweek 12 in what has to be viewed as a friendly double header.
Igor Thiago (£3.9m) – 97 pts
Brentford’s No9 won’t be available for under £4m once the next deadline passes after his 17-point haul against Newcastle before the international break.
Thiago bagged a brace against the Magpies to take his total for the season to nine goals — only Erling Haaland (£7.9m) has scored more in all competitions.
The Brazilian has stepped up for the Bees following the departures of Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo with eight of his goals having come in the league.
In fact, all but half an hour of his minutes have come in the top flight.
Thiago ranks second among forwards with those behind him having had the benefit of additional midweek games in the form of European commitments.
He averages 8.1 points-per-game this season.
