Ibiza plane passengers left ‘scared’ after sitting next to ‘cracked’ window on Ryanair flight to holiday island

A MAN was left “concerned” after he sat down in his seat for a flight to Ibiza only to discover his window had a hole in it.

Aarron Geaves, 32, was flying from Manchester Airport on a Ryanair flight bound for the White Isle when he noticed the cracked window.

Raising his concern with flight crew, Aarron was told there was nothing to worry about.

Only the plastic covering on the window casing appears to have been damaged, not the window itself.

Aarron took a video of the cracked window as he poked his finger through the hole in the window casing.

Other passengers were reportedly too “scared” to go and sit by the damaged window.

According to Aarron staff were told the window was structurally sound by an engineer.

In footage captured by Aarron his mates can be seen looking concerned as he prods the broken window casing.

As he pokes at the window it can be seen bending and a part of it breaks off.

According to a Ryanair statement only the “window reveal”, which is used to protect the window from scratches, was damaged.

The airline claimed to have since replaced the broken piece of the aircraft.

Aarron said: “Everyone was scared and no one wanted to sit near it.

“I saw the crack after opening the window, so it was already there when I got on the plane.

“I was pretty worried, but it all worked out OK in the end.”

Flight crews did not reveal how the damage was done to Aarron who was left in the dark.

When Aarron boarded the flight the damage was already done and no indication of how it had happened was given to him.

The flight appears to have gone ahead as scheduled despite the damage to the aircraft.

The Sun has contacted Ryanair for comment.

Advice for flying with Ryanair

  • All Ryanair passengers can bring a small personal bag on board but this must fit under the seat in front of you, but it must be no bigger than 40cm x 20cm x 25cm
  • Any over-sized cabin bags will be refused at the boarding gate and put in the hold for a fee
  • Ryanair also charges passengers up to £55 check-in at the airport
  • Anyone who loses their card at the airport will have to pay a £20 reissue fee
  • Book to sit in the front five rows if you want to head off the plane first
  • Extra legroom seats can be found in rows 1 A, B, C or 2 D, E, F as well as row 16 and 17 near the emergency exit
  • The worst seat on Ryanair’s Boeing 737-800 aircraft is also 11A because of its lack of window.
