I was wheeze laughing when I opened my Temu parcel, I thought I was buying a tool set but got something very different

A MOTHER has been left in hysterics after receiving a recent parcel from Temu.

Fay Edwards, a mum-of-two from Cornwall, thought she had ordered a set of tools for her son.

However, she was left red-faced when her tiny parcel was delivered.

When the content creator opened up the small white box, she was in disbelief at what actually arrived.

Eager to show off her “mum fail,” Fay took to social media to alert others to her mistake, leaving many in fits of laughter.

In a short video shared online, Fay showed off her new Temu purchase – and instead of some tools, she had received a cup decorated with a picture of a toolbox.

Alongside the clip, the mother shared laughing emojis and admitted: “Temu you got me.”

Whilst wheeze laughing, she wrote: “When you order your son some tools from Temu.”

In hysterics at what arrived, she added: “Oh no! Too funny!”

Fay then confirmed that she had “messed up,” as she explained: “Thought I ordered a socket set – it was a cup with a picture of one printed on.”

Fay’s TikTok clip, which she posted under the username @edwardsincornwall, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 137,200 views.

Not only this, but it’s also amassed 1,317 likes and 55 comments.

I thought I’d got a great bargain with my £5.70 door bow baby shower decoration from Temu – I was stunned by what arrived instead

But it appears that Fay isn’t the only Temu user to have made this mistake, as alongside laughing emojis, one person said: “Don’t feel bad I did the same thing.”

Whilst another admitted: “I fell for that one too. Got refunded though.”

That’s why you gotta read carefully what it says

At the same time, many stressed the importance of looking at reviews before ordering items from Temu.

One user advised: “Always gotta look at the reviews.”

Not only this, but a second Temu shopper stressed: “That’s why you gotta read carefully what it says.”

Why is Temu so cheap?

TEMU exploded onto the scene in late 2022, with people all over social media raving about the low prices.

The company is a Chinese-owned digital marketplace – essentially an online shopping app where people are connected to the retailer directly while the app takes care of the shipping element.

The frenzy over the app is not completely unfounded either as it offers a wide variety of products, including fashionmake-up, electronics and furniture.

According to a report from the US House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, Temu takes advantage of a trade loophole that allows the company to ship duty-free goods directly to the US.

The loophole is called the de minimis exception and it means they can ship goods valued up to $800 (£643) to the US without it being inspected or taxed by US customs.

Temu connects customers directly to manufacturers and only manages how the items are sent to customers.

It means Chinese vendors can essentially sell their products directly to customers and ship it without building a network of warehouses across the globe.

By doing this, they cut down on huge costs and ensure the product itself isn’t marked up extra.

While many of the products seen on the Temu app are from brands with extensive, original collections, many more are dupes of designer brands

While the first image on the Temu listing resembles a tool kit, the £8.17 bargain buy is flagged as a “2D Flat Pattern Stainless Steel Insulated Tumbler with Lid.”

And on close inspection, the image reads: “This is just a thermos cup for drinking water.

“It is not a toolbox, please see the video.

“I hope you will like the printing effect.”
