I was ugly at age 40 but now I’m a hot 50-year-old…I haven’t touched a drop of Botox & even saved money

A WOMAN who described herself as “ugly” at 40, but who has now had a huge glow up, has revealed her secret – and it isn’t Botox.

Kristina May, 50, hit “rock bottom” with her health in her early 40s, and decided to start a mission to completely change her lifestyle.

She began leading a much more healthy life, and this in turn helped to transform her face, without the use of ‘invasive surgeries’.

Taking to TikTok, Kristina shared a picture of herself in her early 40s, where her skin looks red and puffy, and she has some fine lines on her face.

Next to this, she posted a picture of how she looks now, with much firmer, tighter skin, and a healthier-looking glow.

“I had a glow up“, she beamed.

Keen to go for a more natural look, Kristina revealed that one of the steps she took to transform herself was to ditch her fake eyelashes and let her microbladed eyebrows fade.

Not only did this improve her appearance, it also helped her to save money too.

Ditching alcohol and eating sugar also helped her to save money, as well as improving her looks.

Alcohol reduces collagen and can lead to redness, wrinkles and skin sagging, whilst sugar accelerates the ageing process of the skin.

Kristina also stopped eating gluten, which can cause puffiness and redness in the faces of those who are sensitive to it.

Weight training is another thing that the mum has attributed her glow-up to, and she has lost 5kg, over the course of the last few years.

I’ve lost 9 stone & am barely recognisable from my former self – my transformation’s so insane people even think it’s AI

Another thing that Kristina swears by is glycolic acid, which exfoliates the skin, resulting in a smoother, brighter complexion.

She has also begun gua sha and face yoga, which helps to increase blood circulation, and boost collagen.

A high-protein diet is also something that Kristina always makes sure she consumes, as it provides the building blocks for collagen.

Kristina’s (@kristina.maay) video has likely left many people open-mouthed, as it has racked up over 644,000 views on the video sharing platform.

3 tips to age backwards

You can’t really get younger but you can try your best to look younger.

Use sun protection

The most common cause of an ageing face is sun exposure and sun damage.

Using SPF daily is the most effective way to keep the skin looking young and care for ageing skin.

Ditch dramatic makeup

Opt for brown eyeliners and mascaras instead of black, swap matte bronzers, blushers and face powders for creamy products, and make your face glow with shimmery bronzes, pinks and gold eyeshadows.

Dress for your body shape

Many women tend to hide behind baggy, shapeless clothes as they get older.

But the secret to looking young and trendy, is to embrace the body shape you have.

Midi skirts are all the rage at the moment, offering suitable coverage for anyone who doesn’t want to show too much leg or knee. And pleated midi skirts are great if you’re looking for a versatile day to night piece.

Blazers never go out of fashion, and can instantly elevate any outfit. Just make sure the blazer length hits you at the right point.

Jeans have had a revival and there are so many different styles on the high street for you to try. If in doubt, opt for a mid-blue colour and a trusty black.

TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts on her transformation.

One person said: “You definitely were not ugly at all!

“You were probably a person taking care of everyone else and finally started having time to reinvest in yourself!”

A second person said: “You were beautiful before don’t get me wrong but now – wow!”

A third added: “It makes me so happy seeing women glow up as they age and not abandon themselves.”
