I was sick of the crushed velvet look so transformed my lounge using B&M buys & people are stunned at how homely it is

THE VIRAL crushed velvet trend was all the rage a few years ago, with every celebrity and influencer rocking the look in their home.

But now one mum has left people with their jaws on the floor after she ditched the aesthetic in her lounge and gave it a more ”homely” feel.

Single mum-of-three Isabella said she hadn’t redecorated her living room since moving into the property in 2018 and had grown ”sick of the crushed velvet and mirrored look”.

Instead of forking out thousands on the DIY project, the thrifty parent spruced it up all by herself on a budget, spending just £250 in the process.

To kickstart the epic transformation, Isabella first added wall panels – this cost her a mere £22.99 for one box, as she already had some left over from her daughter’s bedroom.

To give the beige walls some accents Isabella also did them up with wallpaper – and one £12.99 roll was enough to cover two sides.

On top of this, the cash-savvy mum – who posts under the username @isabellab.x – also spent £8 on a chic mirror and £20 on a basic black rug, both from B&M.

Tired of the massive crushed velvet sofa, Isabella put it on Facebook Marketplace – which means she didn’t have to pay to have it removed – and instead, replaced it with a black second-hand sofa for just £90.

”Remember, one man’s trash is another person’s treasure – doesn’t always have to be new,” she said in the video.

Other gorgeous features in the living room overhaul included a £30 TV unit, as well as wooden-effect storage boxes for an affordable £40.

Not only do these add an accent to the lounge but they’re also functional, hiding all the ugly wires that often cause clutter in the house.

After making a tenner from her old curtains, the DIY-loving mum also forked out £27 for a new set – which she then installed herself.

Isabella said: ”I know it’s not perfect – I did this myself whilst my sons napped last week.

”I would’ve loved to get it done professionally but your girl is on a tight budget, so please don’t judge me,” she chuckled.

Proudly showing off the gorgeous transformation, the 30-year-old revealed she will now be working on the rest of the house.
