I tried the skincare brand going viral for clearing breakouts — my initial thoughts

47Skin has been going viral for its skincare products, which are loved by people who suffer from breakouts and acne scarring — and I put some to the test.

I used to have acne-prone skin, and while it’s settled in recent years, I still struggle with blackheads and the occasional breakout.

My skin is also dry throughout the year, so I need products that are nourishing without clogging my pores.

I tried 47Skin’s Travel Essentials Bundle, which comes with deluxe-size versions of the brand’s serum, cleanser, moisturiser and SPF.

The skincare brand was founded by Nic Taylor, who, in 2017, used an unmarked pot of cream gifted by his grandmother and noticed his blemished skin had cleared in days.

He tracked down the group of scientists behind the product, going on to patent the brand’s key ingredient, Silver Chitoderm.

The scientists noticed that Silver Chitoderm had positive skincare benefits, which is where the brand’s name comes from (47 is the atomic number for silver).

The brand has since gone from strength to strength, going viral online and racking up impressive reviews. Boots became the first major retailer to stock its products in 2024.

What’s inside?

Even at first glance, I was impressed by the 47Skin bundle, from the luxe-looking bottles to the sleek box they’re packaged in.

The set includes the four main products needed for any skincare routine, so even if you were completely overhauling your regime, you’d have all you need.

That being said, I tend to double cleanse my face, so I started using 47Skin’s Everyday Cleanser as my second step.

It smells like a spa in a bottle, and it left my skin feeling fresh and silky smooth.

The Anti-Blemish and Scar Repair Serum is the brand’s star product, and it’s gone viral online for its impressive results.

It has a creamy texture that glides across the skin, feeling instantly moisturising.

The formula is designed to soothe breakouts and prevent them from coming back, and while it’s too early for me to see the long-term effects, beauty fans have been raving about the serum online.

One wrote: “Within a month the serum has really helped my scarring, it’s not gone yet, but it’s a massive improvement.”

I’d heard great things about 47Skin’s moisturiser, so I was keen to try it out for myself.

Firstly, I love that it comes in a tub, allowing you to get the most out of the product, and like the cleanser, it’s one I’ll be taking with me for travelling.

It has a rich texture that somehow doesn’t feel heavy on the skin, and it didn’t leave me looking oily like many face creams do.

The moisturiser sat well when applied with the serum and didn’t pill, but the only thing I don’t love about it is the strong smell.

The product that I was most impressed with (to my surprise) was the brand’s SPF.

I find it so difficult to find an SPF for the face that I actually like, and 47Skin’s version makes the cut.

It spreads across the skin evenly without leaving any white cast, and it sits perfectly under make-up.

Obviously, the size is perfect for travelling, but I’ll also be popping it in my handbag for top-ups throughout the day.

The only thing I’d change is that I wish it was SPF50 instead for 30 for maximum protection.

The bundle as a whole feels like a great choice for anyone with acne-prone skin who’s new to the skincare world or wants to overhaul their routine by trying out some new products.
