THE quickest way to take your make-up from desk to dance floor is a swipe of red lipstick.
But finding that just right shade can be tricky.
Here are three that flatter all skin tones.
Budget
L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Satin Lipstick in 125 Maison Marai, £9.99 for 4.3g: L’Oreal produces some of the best make-up on the high street, so it is no surprise this outperforms its price tag.
If you are hesitant about wearing such a bold colour, it is a great place to start – you can even virtually try it on at loreal-paris.co.uk before buying.
This is on the warm side so has a slight orange hue but it is so subtle you will only notice if you hold it next to a blue-toned red.
It has a satin finish which is neither matte nor glossy, and the formula is packed with argan oil to keep lips moisturised, making it perfect for everyday wear.
Mid-range
Lisa Eldridge True Velvet Lip Colour in Ribbon, £27 for 3.5g: Billed as a classic, pillar-box red, this shade has finely balanced warm and cool pigments that enable it to shape shift depending on the wearer to best flatter their skin tone, so it doesn’t look the same on two people.
The velvet matte finish means it stays put for hours, even after copious cups of tea, yet it didn’t suck all the moisture out of my lips.
The packaging also feels very high end and it weighs far more than you would expect for the size.
It is a seriously luxurious product at a fair price point that will feel like a bargain once you factor in cost per wear.
Luxury
Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Refillable Lipstick in Red 0, £35 for 0.9g, spacenk.com: I have an unsteady hand, so the slimline shape and elongated handle makes it much easier to keep within my lip line.
The long-wearing colour doesn’t feather or smudge once dried down but it is still comfortable to wear for hours on end.
But my other favourite thing about it is that it is refillable, so you can buy one case and swap in different shades of lipstick, which ring in at a more reasonable £22 each, to match whatever you want to wear that day.
