I spent two hours carving a pumpkin but it ended up being such a fail

HALLOWEEN is just days away and millions of people around the world have been getting ready for the spooky season by carving pumpkins.

But while many choose to go for a haunted design, for one Halloween fan the activity ended up in a huge fail that’s left people in hysterics.

According to the mum Eddie, it took her two hours to carve the huge orange berry – but despite the time and effort put in, socials media users couldn’t help but see female genitals in the design.

Sharing the disastrous Halloween flop on her page, Eddie revealed she was going for the Eye of Sauron from The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Known for the burning flames, the Eye of Sauron represents his constant vigilance and piercing perception, and it’s a key feature in the epic fantasy films.

As Ellie explained she wasn’t a pumpkin craving expert, the project took her two hours, putting her ”whole heart and soul” into the activity.

NOT SO BOO-TIFUL

Five Halloween decorations that scream ‘tacky and cheap’

”I haven’t carved a pumpkin since I was 19 – and that’s eight years ago,” said the 27-year-old TikToker.

”That’s not something I loved to do. But my five-year-old wanted to carve a pumpkin, so I was like, ‘I’m gonna do this’.

”I had a good reference photo – but not the skillset,” the mum later reflected over the fail in a video.

”I had never tried to shave layers off a pumpkin before, so that was new to me – obviously.

”I kept on getting confused as to what was supposed to be dark and where the light was supposed to come through,” said Eddie, who posts under the username @helicopter.eddie.

”I tried – I did my best.”

But despite thinking she did ”pretty well” for her ”first time”, the carved pumpkin has gone viral on TikTok for all the wrong reasons.

According to the mother, thought to be from the USA, somebody told her the design looks like female genitals – and fellow TikTokers couldn’t unsee it.

”Eye of Sauron move over, this year is for the Lips of Sauron,” joked one of the 2.7million viewers.

How to save on Halloween

CUT-OUTS WON’T KEEP: Once carved, pumpkins last just three to five days before they start to rot. So wait until a day or two before Halloween to carve yours, to ensure you won’t have to buy a replacement.

CHILLING CARVINGS: Carve your pumpkin right first time. Download free templates from Hobbycraft to help ensure no slip-ups.

DEVILISHY CHEAP DECORATIONS: Create spooky spider webs using old string or rope.

PAY LESS FOR FACE PAINTS: Cut costs by using your old eyeliners and eyeshadows, and dab on some talc when you need a ghostly white shade.

CUT-PRICE CANDY: Before you buy sweets to give out as treats, clear out your cupboards and see what you have. If you need more, shop bulk deals and compare the price per kilo before you buy.

PETRIFYING POT LUCK: Ask your guests to each bring a delicious themed dish to your party to keep hosting costs down.

SPINE-CHILLING TUNES: Turn to YouTube for a frighteningly good free playlist. There are dozens of channels with hour-long music mixes.

HOLD A SPOOKY SWISH: Swishing — or clothes-swapping with friends — is an easy way to get a new wardrobe. Hold a spooky swish before Halloween to trade costumes for kids and adults.

FRIGHTENING FREEBIES: Sign up for a free local Halloween event. Check your local Nextdoor or Facebook pages, or search eventbrite.co.uk for ideas.

BLOODY GOOD DEAL: Don’t fork out for expensive fake blood. Make your own edible version instead. You can use it for cakes and to decorate costumes.

SHOP ON NOV 1: Be organised and bag the bargains for next year by hitting the shops the day after Halloween. Remember to buy your kids’ costumes a size larger to allow for growth.

”Not the pumpkussy,” someone else chuckled.

”I fear they were not wrong,” a third chimed in.

”THIS is why I don’t carve pumpkins,” another commented.

Following the epic blunder, the mum has revealed she’s considering giving it another ago – this time, better-equipped.

”I might reattempt it with some decent carving tools,” said Eddie who had used a basic kitchen knife for the Halloween activity.
