I fell victim to the TikTok Shop trap

A DISGRUNTLED shopper has revealed how she lost £30 after she “fell victim to the trap” on TikTok Shop.

Paige, 33, took to TikTok to warn fellow online shoppers after a steamer she had allegedly purchased from the app turned out to be a waste of money.

According to the woman, who said she was left “fuming” by the experience, she had ordered the Red Hut Steamer following the rave reviews online.

“Everyone’s cookers and everyone’s oven’s doors looked like they were just dripping off with ease,” the furious social media user said in her video.

Urging others to not make the same mistake, Paige demonstrated how poorly the £30 gadget was performing, removing absolutely no grease and grime.

“I’m here to show you exactly why that is not the truth and you shouldn’t believe everyone who sells on TikTok.”

Paige, who posts under the username @paigee92x, explained that she had seen the device going “viral” on the popular platform and decided to take the risk.

Unfortunately for the online shopper, her expectations did not match the reality as she slammed the TikTok Shop sellers.

“You’re all liars. Here’s the proof,” she said, showing just how dirty the hob was even after using the product.

“Don’t buy the steamer, it doesn’t drip off.”

Posted two days ago, the clip has taken the internet by storm, racking up close to 66k views and close to 200 comments.

As dozens flocked to share their thoughts, many thanked Paige for her honest video.

“I hate all these sellers selling things that don’t work and people wasting money glad you done this video hun,” wrote one person.

Someone else chimed in: “Whenever you see ‘commission paid’ that’s your answer right there!

“Nobody getting paid is giving a bad review! Trust the people showing you just to help.”

Another was also left disappointed by their online purchase, writing: “Mine got delivered yesterday I sent it straight back today absolutely brutal waste of money.”

A fourth shared their experience with ordering from TikTok Shop, commenting: “I bought a car vacuum cleaner, it didn’t pick up a thing.”

This comes just days after one woman told how her family are “so lucky to be alive” after a £13 TikTok “shoe warmer” burst into flames and caused £200,000 worth of damage to her family home.

Kaela Rigg, 46, had nipped home to drop off some shopping when she smelt burning coming from her house.

The mum-of-two walked into her five-bedroom detached property and followed the smell until she reached her utility room, which was awash with black smoke coming from the neighbouring garage door.

Dramatic video footage captured smoke “billowing” from her garage as the fire crew worked to put out the blaze on January 12.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) scrambled to the scene just after 11 am, and luckily for Kaela, were able to extinguish the inferno before it destroyed her home.

GMFRS have since confirmed that the blaze was started by an electric shoe warmer which Kaela had bought from the social media platform to dry her son’s “smelly” rugby boots.

The restaurant owner, from Oldham, Greater Manchester, says the incident has caused over £200,000 worth of damage, and that her family are “lucky to be alive”.

TikTok say they have removed the product from their platform whilst they “fully investigate” the issue.
