WITH the cost of living crisis and gloomy weather, many Brits are leaving the UK behind for sunnier destinations.
One woman, Beth Clarke, recently revealed she decided to pack her bags and start a new chapter around 9,000 miles away in Down Under.

The 24-year-old expat regularly shares small snippets of her life in Australia – and according to Beth, it’s even transformed her face.
Prior to the big move, the TikToker (@bethclarkkee) would fork out a fortune on hair extensions, would get her lashes done, as well as maintain a smooth complexion with Botox injections.
When going out, Beth would also cover her face in cakey make-up – but now, the 24-year-old looks totally different.
This, she recently shared in a makeover video, was thanks to something called ”the Australia effect”.
It’s a new trend that’s taken the social media platform by storm where dozens of former glam beauties share how living in Australia has changed their appearance.
For many, it’s meant ditching their heavy make-up and learning to embrace their natural selves – similar to a ”glow-down”.
A glow-down, similar to the ”clean girl aesthetic” trend, is rooted in the idea of ”less is more”.
It promotes enhancing natural beauty – rather than covering it up.
With a glow-down, out are the hair extensions, fake nails and mega lashes – and in is learning how to take care of your skin to make it radiant.
Beth’s transformation is just one of many – and it’s one that’s made people’s jaws drop on the floor.
”Thank you Aus for making me a natural queen,” said Beth who also admitted she once suffered from ”lash blindness”.
Now, the 24-year-old has said goodbye to her mega eyelash extensions, rocks her natural hair and has also toned down the make-up.
The skin, once covered with foundation and concealer, is now radiant – and even her eyes look brighter.
Posted just two days ago, the clip has taken the internet by storm, winning Beth close to a whopping 190k views and dozens of comments.
Four ways to give yourself a glowdown
Thick fluffly lashes are out, so is the fake tan and long nails…here’s how to have the ultimate glow-down in four steps…
The term “glow-down” refers to a woman removing what once was the most popular beauty choices, for a more natural look.
Eyelash extensions – Thick, bold “Russian lashes” used to be all the rage, but nowadays, girls are opt for subtle, individual eyelash extensions to lengthen what they already have.
Nails – Gone are the long, plastic talons, more women are favouring BIAB or gel manis.
Hair colour – Remember when everyone wanted icy white hair? Not anymore! Millions of women are trying to go back to their roots (literally), and have soft blondes, and warm gold tones added to their hair, in a bid to achieve the “old money blonde” look.
Makeup – Sculpting your face shape through the art of contouring is no more. Ladies are adding freckles and sweeping blush across cheekbones instead.
One person said: ”Until this trend… I didn’t really realise how ‘different’ Australian women wear make up.
”We still do a lot of skin care and make up… it’s just a very different aesthetic.”
”Wow girl, you look amazing,” someone else was lost for words.
”What the helly I didn’t even recognise you, queen,” a viewer commented.
”Dam girl u r beautiful thank goddess u found us,” a fourth chuckled.
