A YOUNG woman has opened up on ditching Scotland to live in Greece.
Jess, 30, now lives in a small village that’s a two hour drive from Athens.
Despite loving the weather, there’s something very unexpected about living abroad that has Jess terrified.
Posting on social media, Jess revealed the things she loves the most, as well as the major thing she can’t stand about living in Greece.
First things first, the content creator shared one of her favourite things about living abroad – the weather.
She got candid on “living in the sun” and said: “Who doesn’t want to spend the majority of the year living in nice weather?

“I could go to the beach every single day if I wanted to, and I just know every day is going to be warm.”
As a result of the constant sun, Jess loves how she can get her washing “washed and dried all in the same day.”
Not only this, but when it comes to food, the blonde beauty is also enjoying the local cuisine.
As a result of having coeliac disease, Jess is “always on the hunt for new gluten-free restaurants and bakeries.”
Despite this, she claimed that pork souvlaki is her “latest obsession.”
However, things aren’t all smooth sailing for Jess, as in a follow-up clip, she got candid on the thing she dislikes most about living in Greece – and it might surprise you.
The young woman acknowledged: “People might not see this one as a big deal, but for someone who is terrified of every single bug on the planet, it’s a big one to me – so of course, it is the bugs of Greece.
“Please tell me why most of them are the size of dinosaurs – I’ve had a praying mantis on my balcony, I’ve had a massive, some sort of cricket, long-legged, long-bodied thing that attached itself to my clean washing, and I’m currently battling with a lizard.”

Jess stressed that a lizard came into her home recently and ran under her sofa and now, she “cannot get it out.”
“Apparently the Greeks call it a lucky lizard, but I don’t feel so lucky with it roaming about my house,” she concluded.
How easy is it to move abroad?
Brexit means British citizens now have to apply for visas to move to countries within the EU. While some countries residency restrictions are easier than others, here’s what you need to do at home before moving:
- Notify HMRC about your upcoming move.
- Let your local authority know and provide a forwarding address.
- Contact your mortgage and utility providers and bank before leaving.
- If you have paid enough UK national insurance contributions, you can qualify for a state pension abroad – contact the International Pension Centre.
- You can sign up to the Royal Mail’s redirection service.
- If you have outstanding student loans, contact the Student Loans Centre.
- If you have children, give due notice to childcares and schools.

Meanwhile, someone else asked: “Are there many job options in Greece and what is healthcare like?”
To this, Jess wrote back and explained: “I think like anywhere people are always looking for the likes of restaurant staff, retail workers…things like that!
“My partner owns his own shop so I didn’t have to worry about finding a job!
“As for healthcare I’ve not had to use it yet but you do have to pay, it’s not free like the UK!”
