A MOTHER has opened up on the horror of her recent council house swap.
Not only did the content creator move into the “UK’s dirtiest flat,” but she also found floors soaked with urine and years-old faeces stuck to walls.
On a mission to turn the “cat litter tray” into a “liveable, beautiful home,” the mum took to social media to give her followers a close-up look at her new home after the council house swap.
A council house swap, also known as a council house exchange, is when two council tenants exchange properties with each other.
Swaps often happen when people want to move to a different area or need a home that better suits their needs (like more space or better accessibility).
Council house exchanges are usually arranged through a formal process, often facilitated by the local council or housing authority.

When faced with the appalling condition of her new home, the mother said: “I moved into the UK’s dirtiest flat – bear in mind, I knew this was going to be a project, but little did I know that all of her stuff was hiding all of this dirt and grime.”
The influencer was left furious after leaving her “beautifully clean home,” when she moved into her new pad on the day of the mutual exchange.
She continued: “I couldn’t even bring my things into this property and here is why – not only is it filled with dirt, dust and grime, but the more we went on, the worse it got.
“The floors were actually soaked in cat and dog urine and we found years old faeces stuck to the floors, walls, cupboards, doors, you name it.”
Desperate to get the property sparkling, she added: “We had to use steamers, cleaners, sterilisers and scrape actual poo and urine off of the floors, walls and ceilings.
“This is only the beginning – see how I transform this disgusting home into something liveable and safe for me and my daughter.”
Social media users gasp
The woman’s TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @transformationque, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 70,500 views, 1,386 likes and 157 comments.
Social media users were horrified at the conditions of the mother’s council house swap and many raced to the comments to express this.
This happened to me and also had to have it fumigated. It was full of fleas

One user gasped: “Honestly I don’t understand how someone could live in this mess.”
A second questioned: “How can people live like that?!”
Whilst someone else penned: “Oh no, that must have been horrendous.”
What is a council house swap?
A council house swap, also known as a mutual exchange, is a scheme for people who live in a council or housing association property who would like to swap their home with another tenant.
People often swap to get a larger or smaller home or to move to a different area.
When you mutually exchange your home, you are swapping tenancies with someone else.
Anyone with a full secure or fixed-term social housing tenancy in their name with a clear rent account can do a mutual exchange.
You cannot swap your home if you:
- have an introductory tenancy
- have a probationary tenancy
- are in temporary housing
At the same time, other council house occupants flocked to share their similar experiences.
One person said: “Same happened with me a few months ago but it’s starting to look nice now. You will soon get there with a bit of elbow grease, good luck.”
Another added: “We had the same but looked past it all as we knew it would be our forever home once all done up. I swapped from a 2 bed small flat to a massive 4 bed house with a massive garden. which is now our forever home. Once it’s all done it’s so so worth it.”
A third commented: “This happened to me and also had to have it fumigated. It was full of fleas.”
