A SHOPPER has raved about managing to pick up £400 worth of stationery for just £19 in B&M – with items scanning for just 10p.
The bargain hunter uploaded photos of her floor covered in pens, highlighters, and notepads – and people were amazed at her huge haul.
Taking to the Facebook group B&M Scanner and Other Bargains, she wrote: “Thank you for the post on the reduced stationery.
“Everything in picture 10p – total £19 should have been over £400.”
As well as colouring books and notebooks, she also managed to pick up some Harry Potter-themed stationery in her shop.
The haul wasn’t just from one shop, and the South Wales-based shopper explained how she had browsed “most of the Cardiff shops.”
And helpfully she had some tips for fellow B&M fans.
The shopper shared how she uses her “B&M scanner” – a barcode scanner within the B&M retail app that helps customers find up-to-date prices and deals in-store – to find reduced prices.
She explained: “When you scan something and it comes up with ‘product not found’ it is usually 10p.
“It’s usually only one or 2 of the products left and they are last seasons.
“I literally scan everything in the stationary aisle yesterday.
“I also went to 5 different BMs finding different things in different ones. Hope that helps.”
The shopper explained that she would be donating items to Children’s Christmas appeals.
Many people were quick to chime in with their views on her bumper haul.
One said: “Well done and all for a good cause.
“I got a couple of 10p items not much in my store but happy wot I got.”
Another added: “I can never find a 10p bargain anywhere I’ve been in 4 5 B&M and never nothing nice haul.”
A third wrote: “Incredible.”
How to save money at B&M
Shoppers have saved hundreds of pounds a year by using B&M’s scanner app.
The scanner lets you see if an item’s price is cheaper than advertised on the shop floor label.
Products that are typically discounted are seasonal items and old stock that B&M is trying to shift.
The app is free to download off the B&M Stores mobile app via Google Play or the Apple App Store.
According to one ex-B&M manager, you’ll want to visit your local branch at 10am on a Wednesday too.
Here’s how you can join the B&M bargain hunt:
- Download the B&M app for free on any smartphone with an App Store or Google Play.
- Once you’ve installed it on your device, click on the option labelled “more” on the bottom, right-hand side of the app home page.
- You’ll then find an option that says “barcode scanner”. Click on this and you’ll open a camera screen.
- Use the camera to hover over the barcode of the product you wish to check.
- If the price comes up as lower, take it to the cash desk and it will automatically scan at the lower price.
- You don’t need to sign up to the B&M app to use the barcode scanner.
