How to look sophisticated & stay warm with 7 easy wardrobe swaps & it’s bad news if you’re a knee-high boot lover

THE CHILLY and crisp mornings often mean we have to choose between staying warm or looking stylish.

For the most part, it’s the latter that millions tend to give up, often reaching for basic jumpers and a pair of trousers to keep toasty.

A woman models two outfits: one with a black puffer jacket, gray skinny jeans, and black boots; the other with a maroon puffer jacket, gray wide-leg pants, and black flats.
Cosy knitwear can oftentimes look a bit dull – but according to the whizz, you can instantly elevate the look by adding layers underneath

But according to a personal stylist, there are easy swaps you can make to instantly elevate any otherwise dull winter outfit – and it will take just a few minutes.

The whizz, Lena Aspette, took to TikTok to share her simple tips that will make your dull ensemble look chic and more sophisticated.

For a more put-together outfit, Lena first advised to ditch the go-to skinny jeans knee high boots combo and instead, opt for wide leg bottoms.

”It’s hard to look put-together in skinnies today, so swap them for straight or slightly wide leg jeans for a modern look,” she said in the video.

When creating a winter outfit with the on-trend wide leg bottoms, knee-high boots won’t work as well – so ditch them ankle boots instead.

These, she said, will make you ”look polished and keep the silhouette clean”.

Cosy knitwear can oftentimes look a bit dull – but according to the whizz, you can instantly elevate the look by adding layers underneath.

A simply white vest will work just fine, she said – and it’ll keep you extra warm as the temperatures begin to plummet.

”Add a belt to define the waist, undo your hair and don’t forget the jewellery,” said Lena, who posts under the username @lena.aspette.

”Black coat is practical – but jewel tones like burgundy would look more sophisticated,” she explained.

For a final touch, add a bag and voila, you’re ready to go.

”Looking expensive isn’t about luxury labels – it’s about proportion, contrast, and small styling details that create balance,” the fashion expert wrote in the caption.

Why Primark is great for looking expensive on a budget

By Clemmie Feildsend, Fabulous Fashion Editor

AS someone who’s no stranger to grabbing a last-minute outfit from Primark for a night out, it’s about time that celebrities started catching on too.

For as long as I’ve been heading out, Primark has been my go-to for those “I have nothing to wear” moments, rushing in at the last minute to find something perfect.

And I’m definitely not alone – on any Friday or Saturday night, you’ll find plenty of shoppers doing the same thing, right before closing time.

But no matter what, Primark always delivers.

Now, Rita Ora is leading the charge, showing that you can snag a designer-worthy look without spending a fortune at high-end stores.

While Rita’s not rushing in last minute for a red carpet outfit, she’s proving you can achieve the same high-impact style for much less.

Looking stunning in her tailored suit alongside her mum Vera, Rita fit right in among the other A-listers dripping in Prada, Dior, and Victoria Beckham – if anything, she looked even better than some of the guests at The Fashion Awards.

With Myleene Klass and Roxy Horner already jumping on the Primark bandwagon, I’m sure more stars will be following suit soon enough.

”Those long wide jeans will drag in the snow and slush,” one TikToker thought.

”I’m still gonna wear my cute boots and my jeans tucked in,” another revealed they won’t be listening to the advice.

”Clearly not an outfit for anyone who lives where there is snow… those pants will be soaked and salt stained in a heartbeat from the sludge,” a viewer agreed.
