When Nicola Peltz launched her film Lola in Feburary 2024, she must have been counting her lucky stars to land the kind of publicity that money just can’t buy.
While she has a relatively modest instagram fan base of 3.1million, the movie which she wrote, directed and starred in, received a huge boost from her famous in-laws, with Victoria and Cruz Beckham attending the LA premiere.
Separately, the former Spice Girl and her husband David sharing enthusiastic social media posts wearing branded baseball caps with their combined 121 million followers, with the latter gushing that he was ‘so proud’ of his daughter-in-law.
It was certainly a welcome boost for the film that was promptly torn to shreds by unimpressed critics – with scathing reviews dismissing it as ‘poverty porn’ and an exploitative ‘vanity project’.
The premiere outing came a month after both Beckham parents shared birthday tributes to Nicola on her 30th, with Victoria’s featuring a video of her dancing on the sand with her daughter-in-law and the caption: ‘Love you so much’.
The pair looked more like best friends than mother and daughter-in-law, and sent the clear message that the rumoured fallout between the pair over Nicola’s wedding dress was long in the past.
How things have changed. Brooklyn and Nicola were no shows at any of David’s 50th birthday celebrations last week, with The Mail revealing that a rift with Nicola is at the centre of the breakdown in relations – despite the Beckhams’ best efforts to support and champion their eldest son’s wife since their 2022 wedding.

It has been claimed that Victoria and David are sadly ‘near breaking point’ over the ongoing feud and there are fears the family might not come back from it.
Brooklyn and Nicola tied the knot at the actress’ family estate in Palm Beach Florida back in 2022.
And from the get go Nicola and Victoria found themselves caught in feud rumours after Nicola chose not to wear the former Spice Girl’s wedding dress and opted for Valentino couture instead of Victoria’s design.
However Nicola squashed the rumours and the pair went on to put on a very supportive display of one another.
They would praise each others work, appear at events together and even post tributes to each other on social media, which has now been notably absent after David’s 50th and Victoria’s birthday last month.
Hitting back at rumours of a falling out between the two back when this all began in 2022, Nicola explained: ‘It’s not a feud! I keep seeing everywhere that word, “feud, feud, feud!?”. I mean, maybe they picked up on something? And now they’re labelling it feud?’

She told The Times: ‘I think it all started, and I’ve said this before, because I didn’t end up wearing Victoria’s wedding dress, but the real truth is, I really, really wanted to wear it and I thought it was so beautiful that Brooklyn’s mom got to make that for me! And I was really excited to wear it! And I didn’t end up wearing it.’
She went on to say: ‘But I, truthfully, was really excited to wear her dress. It makes me sad when I read things that people say I was never planning on wearing it. That’s just not true.’
On another occasion she told Variety that it was an issue of logistics, downplaying the idea that she’d snubbed her mother-in-law or that Victoria had shunned her, insisitng that she had intended to wear a VB creation.
‘I was going to and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realized that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress,’ she said.
‘She didn’t say you can’t wear it; I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it. That’s where it started.’
Brooklyn, in a rather muted defense, added: ‘Everyone gets along, which is good.’

And Victoria made sure to watch Nicola in action as she shared a Instagram Story watching the film and penned: ‘It’s that time!! Excited to watch my first Christmas movie this year!! Kisses @nicolaannepeltz.’
Later in 2021, ahead of Nicola’s directorial debut with her upcoming film Lola, David and Victoria made sure to champion the movie as they shared snaps of themselves wearing branded caps to Instagram.
The film, which was eventually released in 2024, saw Nicola both star as main character Lola as well as both write and direct the project.
David opted to go shirtless for his photograph, showing off his numerous tattoos in the steamy snap, which he captioned: ‘Lola James coming soon @nicolaannepeltz.’
Meanwhile Victoria showed off her slim physique in a simple black form-fitting tank top while showing off the cap in her selfie.
The singer-turned-designer gushed alongside: ‘So excited!!! Kisses @nicolaannepeltz.’

The family then made sure to put on a supportive show when the premiere of Lola rolled around almost three years later.
Nicola cosied up to her mother-in-law at the star-studded premiere in Los Angeles at the Regency Bruin Theatre.
Nicola and Victoria appeared to brush aside the past wedding dress furore and posed for an assortment of snaps together while both wearing outfits from the Victoria Beckham collection.
The budding star affectionately draped her right arm over the fashion designer and Victoria was seen grabbing hold of her hand with her own.

Speaking of how they are now all friends, Brooklyn added in an interview with Grazia magazine: ‘Me and my family are really close, and my wife and her family are really close.’
‘Mine are in between London and Miami, which is really good. Thank God for the football team, so I get to see them as much as I can. We travel over to London sometimes, they come out here [to LA] and we sometimes meet in Miami.’

Chatting to James Corden on his podcast series This Life of Mine in 2024, David admitted his ambitious drive came from the desire to please his father Ted – earning a ‘you’ve made it boy’ only after he won 100 caps.
‘My dad never told me I’d done well really until my hundredth cap. That was the first time my dad turned around to me and said, ‘you’ve made it boy’.
He said he didn’t get the same recognition at any other point in his career despite six Premier League titles, two FA cups, four Community Shields and a Champions League title.
David added: ‘It was the moment that we sat at dinner after I’d won my hundredth cap in Paris and he put his arm around me, and said, ‘you made it, boy.’

Elsewhere on Tuesday, Victoria took to Instagram to promote her business ventures as she remained silent on the ongoing rift claims.
She shared a photograph with fashion critic Osama Chabbi, who recently interviewed her in Dubai as part of his series, where he has conversations with fashion designers.
Her social media has been filled with photographs from various parties held to celebrate David’s 50th birthday last week, including a bash at their Cotswolds home.
The fun-filled celebrations culminated with a massive party held at London’s esteemed Michelin-star restaurant Core on Saturday night.
The bash was attended by A-list stars including Tom Cruise while David and Victoria’s children Romeo, 22, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 13, all attended, though Brooklyn was notably absent.

Claims that Brooklyn and Nicola were rebuffed when they asked David and Victoria to celebrate David’s birthday privately were also said to be untrue.
Sources close to Nicola told US website TMZ they wanted ‘to get together privately’ to avoid Romeo’s girlfriend Kim Turnbull as the couple are said to ‘have a problem’ with her.
Brooklyn missed out on David’s early celebrations in Miami last month as well as parties in the Cotswolds, France and London last week.
Following the birthday party snub, it was revealed Brooklyn also declined an invitation by his father to join him and his brothers on a ‘boys’ fishing trip to celebrate his 50th.
The Mail revealed David invited Brooklyn on a short break six months ago when he began planning, yet his son failed to go despite arriving in the UK the day he went with Romeo and Cruz.
Sources have suggested that Brooklyn’s decision was influenced by his American actress wife Nicola.
‘Brooklyn was asked to join them ages ago,’ one claimed.
‘Then he came to London in time but he didn’t go. Once again David made the best of things and had a great time with Cruz and Romeo.’
David still offered an olive branch to his son as he shared snaps from the trip, as he captioned one of his posts: ‘You were missed @brooklynbeckham.’

In a now-deleted message, one user commented: ‘It’s appropriate to date your brother’s ex too? Cool.’
Cruz replied: ‘Brooklyn and Kim never dated.’
One friend told the Mail’s Katie Hind at the weekend: ‘This is nothing to do with Kim and is all about Nicola.
‘All David and Victoria want is their son back – and they will be there to welcome him any time.’
Family friends claim Brooklyn’s wife has a pattern of ‘starting an argument’ before family events and then preventing her husband from attending.
Some believe that friends of Nicola have been behind the briefings about Kim being the cause of Brooklyn’s rift with his family, some of which went so far to claim that he had told them he refused to come to any event at which Kim was present.
A source close to the family told MailOnline: ‘Brooklyn was close to Kim because she was dating Rocco and they all hung out in a tightknit friendship group. But that was years ago. Brooklyn and Kim were close, but there was never any romance.
‘It seems Nicola doesn’t like Brooklyn spending any time with the Beckhams full stop and is using his previous closeness to Kim and her getting in with the family as a reason to not be around them.
‘She denies it, but Nicola has been controlling him since the wedding. The family – including the brothers – have had enough of it.
‘This is the narrative that’s been put out to other news outlets, that Romeo is dating his brother’s ex-girlfriend – and that’s really weird, so that’s why they wouldn’t want to be around the family when she is there.
‘But none of this is true. And it’s really upset Romeo and his parents because Kim is seemingly being used by Nicola as a reason to start the rift. Romeo is furious at the suggestion that he would bring an ex-girlfriend of Brooklyn into the family when there never was any romance.’
