How the Princess of Wales’s 2022 tennis outfit is still taking SW19 by storm three years on

The Princess of Wales may not yet have visited the All England Club for this year’s Wimbledon tournament; but the so-called ‘Kate effect’ certainly has.

Guests visiting SW19 throughout the tournament appear to have jumped on one of the royal mother-of-three’s most memorable Wimbledon looks from 2022 as they catch the on-court action – in showing off some very similar ensembles.

The Princess of Wales, 43, turned heads in a £1,335 navy blue polka dot dress by Alessandra Rich to watch Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios battle it out on Centre Court in the men’s final three years ago.

Kate was the epitome of Wimbledon chic in the dress, which had a peplum, ruffled wasit at the waist and ruched shoulders. She paired it with £540 bi-colour slip-on stilettos in beige and white, by the same designer.

This year, the chic summer frock is enjoying a stylish resurgence, with dozens of spectators sporting similar versions at this year’s Championships.

Centre Court has become a catwalk of tributes to the look with many sporting their own navy polka dot numbers to give a nod to the elegant frock.

Another royal who was spotted sporting the chic look was Lady Amelia Windsor, who arrived for day four of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships last Thursday.

The fashion model, who is 44th in the line of succession to the British throne, oozed sophistication in a polka dot slip dress.

She completed the elegant ensemble with a white bag and a silver necklace. She kept her blonde locks loose in a centre parting.

Elsewhere The One Show host Alex Jones arrived at the tennis tournament in style donning a semi sheer polka dot gown by clothing brand Rixo.

The £295 dress featured a drop waist, floaty tiered semi sheer skirt and a tie neckline.

Alex teamed her Wimbledon dress with a tan bag by A.P.C and a pair of asymmetric strap heels.

She swept her brunette locks up into an up style and completed the ensemble with a pair of gold earrings.

American tennis player Taylor Fritz’s girlfriend, fashion influencer Morgan Riddle, also wore the infamous polka dot print.

The beauty donned a plunging polka dot long sleeves blouse which she paired with a matching midi skirt.

She completed the ensemble with white kitten heels for day three of the event on Thursday.

Meanwhile actress Naomi Ackie showcased how to make the print look perfectly casual as she paired her summer dress with a denim jacket and brogues.

It comes after Kate, who is patron of the Lawn Tennis Association and a regular fixture at the south west London club, perfected the polka dot print at Wimbledon in 2022.

Kate kept the look simple and styled her hair straight and she sported natural makeup with just a dash of bronzer and some mascara and a sculpted brow.

She added a touch of glitz by wearing a necklace and drop earrings with sapphires that belonged to Princess Diana.

Kate is an avid tennis fan and is a frequent fixture at Wimbledon in her role as Patron of the All England Club.

Kate, who is always a style icon at the games, is yet to attend this year’s tournament.

As the Daily Mail’s Rebecca English reported last month, it is ‘very likely’ that the Princess will attend this year’s tournament in her role as royal patron of the tennis club.

It comes after Kate parents Carole and Michael Middleton were among today’s smartly dressed attendees at Wimbledon as they attended the eighth day of the tennis championships.

The Princess of Wales’s parents were seen arriving at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club grounds in London this morning, ready to watch a day of fast-paced action.

Today, Carole, 70, and Mike perfectly embraced Wimbledon chic with neutral tones, as Carol sported the £395 Helena Toffee Stripe dress from Beulah London, paired with sandals and a white bag from Osprey.

Michael, 76, meanwhile wore a smart suit with a blue shirt as a pop of colour for a summery look.

They will have much to look forward to at SW19 today, as Novak Djokovic is set to take on Australia’s Alex de Minaur on centre court, before a match between Mirra Andreeva and Emma Navarro, with reigning men’s world No.1 Jannik Sinner set to play Grigor Dimitrov to end the day.

Their appearance comes after Carole enjoyed a sweltering hot day at Royal Ascot last month – despite her eldest daughter deciding not to make an appearance at the event.

Dressed in a stunning yellow lace frock, 70-year-old Carole channelled Molly-Mae Hague in her racing outfit from ME + EM as she chatted with her son-in-law, Prince William.

Meanwhile the Princess of Wales, who had been widely tipped to attend the races on the same day, appeared to have pulled out of her appearance at the last minute.

Carole appeared in good spirits despite her daughter’s absence; instead enjoying some banter with the Prince of Wales and exploring the racecourse with her son James’s wife, Alizee Thevenet.
