Jamie Borthwick previously defended Wynne Evans as it’s revealed the star has now been caught up in Strictly’s string of scandals with the emergence of a shocking sex toy video.
In February, the EastEnders actor, 30, spoke out at the BBC show’s Live Tour final performance to demand its future be ‘protected’ after running for 20 years.
The comments came shortly after his co-star Wynne Evans, 53, was kicked off the tour for making a joke about having a threesome with presenter Janette Manrara, 41.
Speaking at the London O2 show in February, Jamie said: ‘Strictly is such a fantastic show. The people on this show are amazing.
‘And I think we all agree, as Strictly fans, that it should be protected and looked after because we love it and it brings so much entertainment to people.’
Strictly judges Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke and Motsi Mabuse began to applaud, but Craig Revel Horwood did not join in, The Sun reported at the time.

Jamie continued: ‘I’ve honestly had the most amazing experience with every single person, including my lovely new sister Michelle. She’s absolutely fantastic.
‘And I just want to thank every single person for all their support all through the show. It’s been brilliant. Thank you so much.’
Jamie went on to win the tour’s glitterball trophy on the final night of the live shows.
And now, two months after Jamie’s passionate defence of the show, the Strictly scandal deepened once again as the actor and Wynne were reportedly blasted by BBC bosses over a shocking sex toy video.
In footage obtained by The Sun on Sunday the two stars, who took part in last year’s line up of the show, backstage after the opera singer sent a sex toy to the EastEnders star.
Filmed just two days after Wynne was recorded making a vile sexual comment to Jamie about pro dancer Janette Manrara, the video sees Jamie claiming the toy was sent to Birmingham’s Utilita Arena reception by Wynne.
The actor smiles as he holds up the rubber toy, then points the camera at Wynne who is seen shirtless as he practices with professional dancer Neil Jones.

Jamie says: ‘Look at what he bought me. I opened it up and he surprised me with this, didn’t he. It’s so funny.’
Jamie reportedly shared the offensive clip on the Strictly contestant Whatsapp group.
A source told The Sun: ‘As soon as BBC executives were made aware of this shocking and immature footage being shared they formally addressed the issue and reminded the pair they had to act professionally.
‘The men were acting extremely immaturely and inappropriately, considering it was a family show, and many cast members didn’t share their crass sense of humour.
‘Bosses were horrified and shocked, hoping to nip the issue in the bud, unaware the video had been shared more widely.’
They added that the pair thought the video was funny, yet while they saw the hilarity, others didn’t, especially as Strictly is a family show.
MailOnline have contacted the BBC as well as Wynne and Jamie’s representatives for comment.
It comes a day after Wynne took yet another swipe at Strictly as he confessed he ‘can’t wait to tell the truth’ on Friday.
Wynne was recorded crudely suggesting a three-way sex session with Janette, using the hugely demeaning term ‘spit roast’.
Janette did not make a complaint against the singer, yet he apologised for the vile remark aimed at tour host Janette, when footage emerged of the comment at the tour’s press launch. He was then axed from the tour.

The star believes he has been ‘unfairly treated’ by the BBC after his controversial joke was reportedly a ‘known nickname for a co-star and taken as banter within his Strictly circle.’
And despite the controversy Wynne hinted he is set to break his silence on the show’s scandal as he took to his Instagram Story.
Sharing a selfie he wrote: ‘Hey all happy Friday. #truthwins #cantwaittotellthetruth #Wynners’.
And it isn’t the first time Wynne has hinted at revealing the truth after he urged his followers to ‘try and stay positive’ and also declared that ‘truth wins’ in a rare social media update on Monday.
He first shared a photo of a bottle of gin as he enjoyed a drink with fellow Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins on Sunday, before going on a 16.5km run.
Sharing a snap of him post-workout alongside his running stats, Wynne explained that the exercise was valuable for mental health.
He wrote: ‘Sunday morning 30 mins done. So good for your mental health #truthwins #wynners’.
The Go Compare star carried the momentum on the following day, posting another worn-out selfie after a bike ride and encouraging everyone to try their best to stay positive.
Writing: ‘New week, bike ride done. Try to stay positive you can,’ he once again added that hashtags: ‘#TruthWins #wynners’, suggesting that he was still determined to clear his name.
He previously attempted a comeback last month by asking his Instagram followers what they were doing for the weekend – his first time addressing fans since being forced to take a break from his radio show.

He also plugged his BBC show, All At Sea, with Gavin & Stacey star Joanna Page, which aired after the scandal.
A source told The Sun in January: ‘As far as Wynne is concerned, he has been wronged. He understands the language he used was not appropriate but it’s all been taken so out of context.
It was reported last month that in the wake of the scandal, his lawyers are striving to clear his name after Wynne took ‘time off’ from his presenting duties on BBC Radio Wales.
Two months later, he has still not returned to hosting the show and is still being fronted by Robin Morgan.
When asked last week by the MoS if he would be coming back, the BBC simply referred to his January statement apologising for his ‘inappropriate and unacceptable’ language.
After being dropped from multiple brand deals, Wynne’s lawyers have reportedly compiled a 30-page dossier to take to showdown talks as he fights to keep his beloved radio job.
‘Wynne has got a legal team in his corner and he has a 30-odd page dossier which he thinks will help his case.
‘He absolutely loves his job on BBC Radio Wales and having to step back from it in the wake of his [Strictly] dismissal was heartbreaking.’
The talks were allegedly due to take place last month but were delayed amid Wynne’s struggle with his mental health.

Back in January, Wynne stepped down from the Strictly live tour after coming under fire for making a vile remark aimed at host Janette Manrara (pictured in 2023)
The insider went on to add that the situation has ‘hit Wynne hard’ and that he will ‘fight’ to keep the job that means ‘so much’ to him.
They added that BBC Radio Wales listeners ‘love him’ and have even made social media pages to show their support.
The star of the Go Compare adverts reportedly believes his reputation has been unfairly left ‘in tatters’ after he apologised for a vile remark aimed at tour host Janette, when footage emerged of the comment at the tour’s press launch.
His girlfriend Liz Brookes, 50, is said to be sticking by him amid the scandal, offering her full support to Wynne as he reportedly takes legal action against the BBC.
It was subsequently claimed Wynne’s sexual remark didn’t come as a surprise to those in his circle as the comment was ‘known to many of the professionals and celebrities taking part in the tour’.
According to The Sun, the phrase was ‘widely remarked on and laughed at during the tour and became something that was regularly bandied about’.
Friends of the Welsh star told the publication Wynne is ‘incredibly upset’ no one jumped to defend him publicly in light of the ‘long-running joke’.
In the MoS film, Wynne stands in the middle of a line-up of 20 celebrities and dancers as Janette, who hosts the TV spin-off Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, is summoned to join them. As she approaches, Wynne warns her with a grin: ‘Not too close to Jamie [Borthwick]!’
He then pulls a suggestive face at the actor, behind Janette’s back, as she moves between them. It is at this point that Wynne makes his disgusting joke at her expense.
Seconds later, Janette’s dancer husband Aljaz Skorjanec, who was standing nearby, asks her: ‘Darling, are you OK?’ She replies curtly: ‘Yep.’
Janette’s spokesperson said the host had been ‘unaware of this comment by Wynne’ which was audible to the reporter filming with a mobile phone 20 yards away.
The father-of-two was also caught up in an earlier controversy when viewers spotted his dance partner Katya Jones forcibly removing his hand as it strayed across her waist.
Meanwhile, Wynne is set to perform for the first time since the scandal erupted with another one of Strictly’s controversial stars.
It was revealed last week that he will join forces with former pro Giovanni Pernice at the Wight Proms festival in summer.
The festival, which takes place in August, celebrates comedy, opera, drag, musical theatre, dance, sport and more.
