VAL DANCER (1.50 Lingfield, nap)
Can waltz away with the Surrey National. He showed his liking for a proper marathon when winning the 2024 Welsh National and has run just three times since. His latest outing came when a cracking third in the Becher Chase over the big fences at Aintree last month. He was gaining on the leaders with every stride so will appreciate stepping up by two furlongs today. He likes a bit of give in the ground and just keeps galloping.
MAGNA (1.38 Kempton, nb)
Is in flying form and followed a win here last month with a game victory at Southwell 15 days ago. He is best over this six-furlong trip and champion jockey Oisin Murphy takes over in the saddle which is another positive.
ALASRAE (6.30 Wolverhampton, treble)
Went down by just a neck in similar company at Lingfield last week when well backed. He hasn’t been with George Boughey long and he should be able to conjure enough improvement to win. A change of headgear to a visor could also give him the little nudge he needs.
KOENIGSSTERN (3.20 Lingfield, Lucky 15)
He has been running well for a while and went close at Warwick on New Year’s Eve. There was a long way back to the third and this race looks no stronger with the longer trip a good idea.
