TEMPLEGATE tackles Friday’s racing – which includes a cracking little card from Sandown – confident of beating the bookies.

HIDDEN HISTORY (2.55 Sandown, nap)
This seven-year-old had some useful handicap form over hurdles when trained by Chris Gordon. But he looked much improved when making his chasing debut for Dan Skelton at Aintree last month. He was held up off the pace by brother Harry before showing good speed up the home straight to win by a cosy half a length. The performance was better than that and the handicapper has been fair in putting him up by just 2lb. He was coming back from seven months off at Aintree so should improve fitness-wise. And he will have learned plenty from jumping fences for the first time. All ground comes the same and he looks a nice prospect over the bigger obstacles.
BE THE DIFFERENCE (2.43 Sedgefield, nb)
He heads to the County Durham track looking for a hat-trick after convincing victories at Kelso and Bangor. He is a strong stayer and likes plenty of give in the ground so should be right at home in today’s conditions. His last success came just six days ago and he’s back from the same handicap mark with every chance.
DOYEN QUEST (2.20 Sandown, treble)
Went from the front to beat Quebecois by 10 lengths at Exeter last month and can confirm that form. This stamina test is ideal and there’s more to come.
SCOTTISH KING (12.58 Sedgefield, Lucky 15)
He didn’t enjoy dropping in trip at Uttoxeter latest and will be happy back over 3m2f.
