Homeowner fights off armed intruder in his undies – after making one small mistake we’re all guilty of

A homeowner was forced to wrestle a scissor-wielding intruder to the ground wearing only his underwear after he forgot to lock the back door after he let his cat out.

Queensland couple Steve and Jane were awoken by a woman armed with a pair of scissors standing in their hallway.

Steve, 59, didn’t have time to put clothes on and decided to bring down the intruder himself out of fear for his wife’s safety.

The incident was caught on a security camera Steve had recently installed for safety reasons, due to his history of fainting unexpectedly.

In the shocking CCTV footage, he is heard demanding the woman put the scissors on the ground, before lunging at her hand and grabbing the weapon.

‘It was like a horror movie…she was looking for trouble,’ Steve, from Moreton Bay, told A Current Affair.

‘I got to protect my family, haven’t I? There wasn’t long at all. It’s instinct to do what I’ve done. I just knew I had to get the [scissors] out of her hand or we’re in trouble.’

Once Steve had wrestled the scissors out of the woman’s hands, he restrained her for 25 minutes while waiting for police to arrive.

‘It was exhausting,’ he said.

‘It was like she had superpowers because she was very strong.’

Jane had earlier called triple zero for help after the intruder stabbed their bedroom door at least once while demanding they open it.

‘I’m panicking. I don’t know what to do,’ Jane said.

‘All I know is, grab the phone and dial triple zero – that’s all I’m thinking.’

Jane remained terrified for their safety as the woman lay restrained on the ground.

‘If she moves, she can hurt us. Glad I got a big boy, or else we’re gone,’ she said.

Queensland Police officers later arrested a 40-year-old woman at the home.

‘It is alleged (that), shortly after 7am, a Boonooroo woman trespassed at an address while armed with scissors,’ a police spokesperson said.

‘It is alleged she was located with a small quantity of methylamphetamine in her possession.’

Daily Mail understands charges are still pending.
